A few years ago I upgraded my older Polk soundbar with a Denon DHT-716H, and added a sub and two Home 250 speakers. When everything was working it sounded pretty good and filled my large room; however, it was never as good as my wired system (was expected) and the sub and rear speakers would disconnect all the time. They eventually wouldn’t connect to wifi at all. I even factory reset them and tried multiple routers.
This new Samsung blows away what I had before. The surround effects are significant, and the bass is so good. It sounds good with modern movies and music and fills a large room with deep bass and rich sounds. The sound effects and music sound great in The Lord of the Rings movies for example. It’s pretty close to the wired theatre system I have in my basement with a Denon receiver and Polk speakers and sub.
I was considering the Klipche, but I am so glad I chose this one. It is relatively expensive but so worth it.
The photo is with a 58″ Samsung TV and the rear speakers are mounted from the ceiling.
Good luck!

i’ve been using a 2.1 lg sound bar for the past few years which definitely left a lot to be desired. after months of researching i decided to go big and get the q990b after seeing it available open box for $850 (great deal.) my partner often complained about the old 2.1 soundbar because it would get so loud it would assault her senses so she said NO to a surround sound dolby atmos system. i knew the only way to get her on board would be to buy it and set it up. low and behold she loves it. the sound is incredible and it’s actually 100% less abrasive than the 2.1 system. works very nice in our apartment. bought an insolation pad to get the subwoofer from rattling the neighbors. it’s quieter from the hallway than the 2.1. we’ve been rewatching a ton of movies because the atmos is so amazing it’s a totally new experience. the smarthings app leaves alot to be desired and isn’t very intuitive but it’s nice to easily have so much control over the system. the remote kinda sucks tbh and it’s hard to navigate the UI with the tiny LED screen on the soundbar. you pretty much need to use the app. got the whole thing up and running in a couple minutes. this unit was manufactured in november 2022 so it does not suffer from the rear speaker disconnecting issue. everything works flawlessly. i highly recommend the q990b if you’re looking to create a cinematic experience in your home/apartment.

So I wanted to get rid of my components and have a clean look in my living room. I also wanted to have incredible sound for music and movies without all the bulky components. I watched all the reviews and became obsessed with finding the best sound bar system money could buy. I have been fascinated with loud audio my whole life. I have had monsterous car stereos with giant subs and multiple amps. So I have gotten older I just appreciate music sounding more full, loud, but yet clean. I still want the power but the sound quality must be there to support it. I wanted the nakamichi dragon but also didn’t want to wait for it. I also wasn’t too keen on having multiple subwoofers in my living room. It’s not tiny but also not huge (18x22ft with 8 foot ceiling height). I was lured into the Klipsch cinema 1200 due to its wattage and the massive 12” subwoofer. I figured Klipsch is a high quality company and this thing must sound amazing? Upon arrival I wasn’t thrilled with the build quality on any aspect of it except the sub. Once I hooked it up the sub seemed to be at low power and the Bluetooth never worked unless you reset it. There were moments of tremendous bass where I thought ok this is going to work, but it just didn’t do it for me. The system was buggy, it would get close to winning me over then let me down. I would have to unplug speakers then plug them back in. It just wasn’t the quality I had expected. I sent that back and decided to order the q990b because of the raving reviews. I was hesitant because the power is only 656 watts, and the sub is just a tiny 8” woofer. Let me be very clear here, those are all really just numbers on a piece of paper and I would ignore them. The box showed up and it was half the size of the Klipsch I had ordered. My buddy and I were laughing at it and I said, “well, I’m sure I will like this one even less.” When unboxing it I was impressed with the build quality and weight of each component despite its much smaller size. The subwoofer felt kinda light and compact and being a bass head I thought this is going to be way to weak for me. Then I noticed the box said q990c… I had ordered the q990b and paid that price. So I looked at the bottom of the bar and it was a 990c! So I hooked it up and listened to some music in stereo mode because I have pandora. I was happy but had mixed emotions at first. The secret to this system is to use Apple Music and unlock the true Dolby Atmos signals. After a few weeks I figured this out and ohhhh my…. I have never heard cleaner and more precise, immersive, and beautiful audio in my life! Once you get this this thing dialed in it is astounding! It’s performance in movies is obviously it’s strong point and very strong it is…. However, I listen to more music and it can do that in a crazy way when the correct settings and streaming is accomplished. Dolby music in Apple Music is out of this world. For some reason the rear speakers don’t engage in this but it doesn’t even matter? The bar puts music everywhere and the subwoofer is some sort of magic I just cannot understand. I have spent countless hours just enjoying this immersive sound and clarity that I have never experienced before. I have no idea how the 8” sub can do this and seem to not even be working that hard? The system amazes me at certain moments every time I turn it on. No connection loss, no bs, it just does it’s thing and it is so underrated. I listen to audio loud and this gets loud enough for me, I have never heard any distortion. It seems to protect itself from that? Your friends will be impressed by the atmos sound it throws out there, it’s truly something else! If it doesn’t sound truly amazing it is because of the compressed or stereo quality audio you are feeding it. If you use current and quality audio streaming it will blow your socks off!

For 3 months I had the sound bar on the floor in a room with walls that echoed. Although there was a nice wraparound effect the sound quality for voice was so muddled this sound system always got turned off when there was dialog so we could understand the words.
Then we mounted the TV and sound bar on the wall. With the sound bar at about 4 feet up, the sound came alive! Even at quiet volumes music and dialog were clear and accurate. Cranking up the volume still gave great quality, even at window-busting levels.
Lesson learned – keep this sound bar off the floor
