I always use Sandisk drives, and I never have problems. I like this particular design because I can use the USB or USB-C insert making it easy to pair it with a laptop, phone, computer, tablet, and etc. The drive is also easy to install, it pops up on your computer right away and is easy to read. There is a good amount of storage space – 128 which fits my needs. It is good quality and durable for normal use. I got this on sale, so it was a pretty good deal for the amount of storage.

I bought this to store videos to play on my 2014 Infiniti QX80 entertainment system. I had to download a FAT32 formatter because it comes formatted in exFAT which is not recognized in older vehicles. I also use WinFF software to convert the video files to a format the vehicle will recognize. This allows me to store lots of cartoons to keep my girls entertained on long drives. The convenience of having USB C and USB A is a plus! I highly recommend this product!

I really enjoy using this with my iPad Pro. It is so useful and fast. I love the duel usb C/ usb A connectors. I would love to have one in 512gb.

This is a VERY nifty gadget, and it works very well, with huge storage (256G)…BUT, you may encounter a problem, as I did, if your iDevice/Driod is encased in some form of protective “armor” (in my case, an OtterBox Defender). This thumb drive is almost 3/4 of an inch wide, which means you have to have a considerable amount of open space around your iDevice’s/Droid’s access port, in order for the thumb drive to seat properly. My OtterBox case is very restrictive around the access port (no doubt for protection) and would not allow the thumb drive to seat properly. Therefore, the thumb drive did not work. I thought about buying an adapter, but, decided instead, to attempt a modification on my OtterBox. It took considerable patience, but I was finally successful in enlarging the OtterBox opening around my iPad’s access port. The thumb drive now seats properly, and, of course, works! Five stars to both devicesโฆ My OtterBox and the thumb drive!

Iโve had this thumb drive for close to a year now and find it very reliable and convenient for transferring files from my different devices to my laptop. I recently got an iPhone 15 PM and was curious if it would work on it since the new iPhones now have USB C ports rather than lightning ports. I got on here and checked the reviews to see if anyone else had tried it or asked the question of whether itโs compatible or not. To my disappointment all the questions that were answered about it it indicated it didnโt work and that iOS didnโt recognize it and the SanDisk app doesnโt recognize it. Wanting to double check and verify myself I went to the App Store and re-downloaded a couple of Sandisks apps that I had previously used and gave it a shot. To my dismay the reviews were right and the App Store software from the manufacturer does not recognize it. I still wasnโt satisfied with that outcome so I plugged it in again and opened the โFilesโ app which is the iOS native software that comes on it from the factory. I hit the back button a couple times and got to the โOn My Phoneโ folder and was delighted to see that the IPhone recognizes the thumb drive natively with no extra software required to use it and you get an extra 256 GB of storage(depending on your model). It works like any drive would on your PC. You can create folders, save any type of document you want and even have the option to format the drive if you so choose. Just wanted to pass this along to anyone who was wondering and may not be totally familiar with the iPhone. The only negative thing that I have to say about this drive, is that it does get rather warm when plugged in and using it via the USB port. Itโs not really anything that causes any problems, but I canโt imagine itโs good for the lifespan of the drive running that hot.

This is an excellent storage solution on the go, and as someone with enough USB Type C and Type A devices, the convenience is a godsend that can’t be matched by cables. Moreover, the SanDisk Memory Zone app is simple and works well, which surprised me because in the past I’ve thought SanDisk utilities were little help and annoying to use. I liked it so much and it was simple enough to use that I got one for my dad to use with his Android phone and laptop. I paid $22 for 128 GB, which is a good storage deal in 2019 IF all the specs listed are met…
HOWEVER this is where I’m sorely disappointed. The read speeds are near advertised and acceptable, but the write speeds are far slower at about less than a third of what’s advertised. Moreover, the drive gets concerningly hot, particularly when it is being used in Type C mode. However, both read and write speeds are a touch faster in Type C mode as well and makes me call into question the buses used to interface with the memory, if the drive really is USB 3.1. When I plug it into my computer, the disk label reads 3.0, so I’m not sure whether they marketed the information or labeled it incorrectly. Moreover, there was a rumour that this drive is actually a micro SD card slotted into a dual adapter they’ve rigged up, which I could believe due to the sad write performance of the drive. Not in the mood to crack it open and break it to find out, but I definitely will once it fails.
SanDisk has a reputation and it kinda makes me sad to see a product miss the advertised marks this badly. As someone in tech, I keep an eye on the specs and rely on them to be true to the device which is why it frustrates me so much when a legitimate company makes mistakes and flat out lies like this. It makes me not want to give them money.
So why did I rate it 4 stars?
Because I’ll be damned if this isn’t the best flash drive I’ve owned, lies and all. I’ve been waiting for this type of drive for a while and most reputed companies haven’t put one of them out yet, probably because the technology isn’t good enough to have consistent enough quality in speed, which apparently SanDisk isn’t bothered with ๐ The convenience and the huge amount of storage for $20 on a drive that will actually work on all of my devices at a decent pace is too much of an allure to pass up. As long as the file isn’t too big and I use this as a casual, day to day drive as most people will, this will work well enough. Moreover, the app is so dead simple and convenient for even the tech illiterate to use. May still want to attach to a cable for those 4K videos though.
Speeds in my pictures were collected using CrystalDiskMark. Faster speeds collected through USB-C Thunderbolt interface on same machine as the USB-A test, run on 3.1.
