I come from the traditional recurve bare bow world and, for years, didn’t think I would get a compound bow. Until I saw a slew of YouTube videos on the Dragon X8 and now the X9. I decided to see what all the hoopla was about and pulled the trigger. The bow is amazing and easy to tune. I like the ability to have a bow that can go from 20 lbs to 70 lbs of pull weight with the mods on the cams. It’s well-balanced and has a smooth draw with great let-off. The net weight is decent. Probably could shave off a few oz.’s in future models. Decent accessories, but you’ll probably upgrade if you get into the sport. I did get the one with the arrows that can’t work with a whisker biscuit, but a drop-away works! They sent me the new Dragon 9 arrows to replace the ones I have, and they have updated the arrow vane placement and size. They went from a 4″ to a 3″ vane and the long vanes were placed higher on the shaft. For less than $300 you can’t go wrong.

This is a good starter bow in my opinion. I am also often asked what the difference is between this and the x8. This one has heavier spined arrows in the kit, so it is a little more suited for an adult who intends to shoot at heavier draw weights. All of the Sanlida bows I have handled have impressed me with the quality of bow for the low price compared to others I have handled.

Just so we are clear the bow is good. Most of the stuff that comes with it is fine. But there are 2 problems. One the fleching on the arrows is to long, it gets caught on the rest when pulling it back. You have to hold it in place to draw it. The arrows are fine but you will have to re flech them.

The second problem is the release they give you won’t hold the bow string. It releases the arrow half way back.

If these 2 things were fixed it would be 5 stars. I may send it back I contacted them no answer yet. I’ll give it a day or 2 and see what they tell me. Here’s an update, customer service contacted. They will be sending out a different type of arrow rest that should not effect the arrows. Not sure how long it will take, but it works for me. One last update the rest is on the way. There customer service was very good.

Would I buy it again yes the bow really is very good.

I was truly excited to get my hands on the Ready to Hunt Compound Bow Package, hoping it would elevate my archery game. However, my experience with this product has been nothing short of disappointing. From the moment I unboxed it, I noticed that the quality felt cheap and not at all what I expected for the price. The bow itself seemed flimsy, and after just a few test shots, I quickly realized that it lacked the accuracy and precision I was hoping for. As an avid archer, I understand that consistency is key, and this bow simply didn’t deliver. It left me frustrated and questioning my choice to invest in this package.

Moreover, the included accessories felt like an afterthought. The sight was poorly calibrated from the start, making it incredibly difficult to hit the target even at close range. The arrow rest also seemed poorly constructed; I experienced constant issues with my arrows bouncing off instead of smoothly launching into flight. These problems not only impacted my performance but made me dread going out to practice. In the end, I found myself regretting my purchase and felt let down by a product that promised so much. I hoped for a reliable, ready-to-hunt setup, but instead, I got a bow that’s collecting dust in my garage. If you’re serious about archery, I recommend looking elsewhere for quality and performance.

Picture is after I found my 20yard hold.
Before shooting I had a friend check timing and set to 65lb draw weight. The bow shot decently well. Not the quietest bow but it’s not bad at all. I did however upgrade to a single pin sight and a drop away rest. But I only upgraded bc I’m not a fan of the 5 pin sight or whisker biscuit rest. After I found my 20 yard hold, the rest of the tuning was easy. Definitely recommend this bow for new shooters and the experienced shooters trying to budget.
When I first set up the bow I had it at a 63-64lb draw weight and it was very smooth and easy to pull, hold and shoot. Once I got comfortable with the bow, I got cocky and cracked down the bolt another two full turns to max. Doing so it made a huge difference in the draw weight. I haven’t checked yet what it’s pulling at max draw weight, will update.
It’s odd but I have the bow draw length set to hold #1. That’s 31in draw length according to the manual. On high end bows I’ve own the the past, Matthew’s VXR, Elite Remedy and Elite Omnia I shot a 29inch draw length. For the money, you cannot beat it.
My first compound bow was a Blackout Intrigue XS from bass pro shot for $300. In the same price range I would say the Sanlida dragon x9 is a way better bow then it.
The Sanlida Dragon X9 is a great bow for the money.

Overall this is a very nice bow. With all the accessories that are included it’s really a good buy.
Pros: Great riser, good limbs with dampeners, decent sight, D-loop installed and nicely set-up, very easy to adjust Draw length and draw weight without bow-press.
Cons: Arrows are weird and don’t work with the included arrow rest. The 4″ fletching jams into the rest. On the positive side the support center for Sanlida immediately responded and sent me 12 new arrows with shorter vanes (3″) and they moved the vanes 1/2″ closer to the nock. Great service! I was still able to use the 4″ vanes by flipping the rest to the front of the riser.
I had to modify the rest: the brushes were way to close to each other and had to be ground off on a belt sander, now the arrows glide nicely past the rest. I don’t use the quiver, arm sling, the stand and I use my own palm-release. All in all the bow is well built and a good value.
