The assembly couldn’t have been easier (although I did not need step one of the instructions to say: “Remove spreader and hardware kit from the box”!) This spreader is lightweight, yet very well made. It has several dial options which are easy to adjust, and it spreads evenly. There are no negatives. It was a good purchase.

So I had the mini version and I can tell you don’t buy that junk. You’ll have stripes in your yard like you wouldn’t believe. That spreader is absolute garbage and about ruined my yard. Now for home use, hobbyist use this is a great spreader. Really even, tires aren’t in the way of the spread it just works. As far as longevity, sure it’s plastic and metal so it might corrode but the spread pattern and it’s sturdiness it’s just a good feeling product. Wish Scott’s would refund me for my mini cause that was a waste of $50 but this elite version should be the standard. Just a nice wide even pattern, makes putting down fertilizer enjoyable again and I’m sure the grass is even happier.

The hoppers, a good size the edge guide works fairly well. Just don’t think that the edges perfectly straight where it’s shooting the particulate out of the hopper. It has metal turners in the bottom, dual hopper drop of the fertilizer so that the old plastic ones were garbage as the gears would wear out in no time. I bought two as mentioned above because the price was so good. And please to this point as I’ve done my 2 acre lot a couple of times and gives a better spray area. I think I’m about 7 feet or more so less walking as it has a dual spreading device under it compared to a single.

Being 53 years old, I have been through quite a few spreaders. I always bought cheap ones, thinking I could save some bucks only to struggle with them.
I normally don’t write reviews but thought I should on this.
I bought the Elite and spent a little extra. Totally worth it.
1) it was pre-built, I only had to put on the tires, took a couple minutes top. The tires are held on by a cotter pin. Put the pin in and bend it and your done.
2) the bucket is huge.
3) the tires are decent and went over my lawn flawlessly
4) the dump switch is easy to use and it locks open making it easier on my hands
5) the edger works great saving fertilizer from going on the neighbors lawns and into the area for the dogs.
6) there are two dump holes and spiny spreaders giving a nice spread in your lawn.
Con:
1) the handle is a bit short… fine for me at 5’10” but I’m glad I’m not 6’
