I actually bought this because I was borrowing a friend’s and boiled it to sterilize it, a mistake I’ve made with mouthpieces twice. I bleached it and turned it brown. Selmer makes fine mouthpieces and this is no exception, just don’t be silly like me and remember to use lukewarm water to clean it.

I shouldn’t have bought this. It’s true that I cannot expect too much for the price, but I got interested in this product as I saw the brand Selmer on it. I wouldn’t buy it again.

There are apparently good examples of these mouthpieces, so they can be a ridiculously good value, but if you are a beginner reading this and you buy one you NEED to have an experienced player try it for you. Return/exchange if you get a bad one. Also, take a bit of 220 grit sandpaper to bevel the bore (the inside corner on the round end).
I had the opportunity to try three of these when a company made a mistake with my order. The machining was very poor as the pieces have visibly different chamber sizes, small but visible burrs at internal milling edges, and very sharp bore ends that can and will shave material off a sax neck cork if not lightly beveled.
All of that said, I’m surprised to say two of them play well. They offer a nice round tone with a decent bit of flexibility and a good amount of resistance, and would fit well in classical. Altissimo is difficult, but with a small tip opening, low baffle, and medium chamber, that is no surprise.
The third piece is resistant enough to call stuffy, the lows speak poorly, and it is just not at all a good player, which screams bad facing work. For the price this is what I expected of all three.
I will update this review after I take measurements of them.
