After much debating and arguing with some of my audiophile friends, I decided to purchase the E835, and let me tell you, I do not regret this purchase one bit. My previous microphone was the AT2020 and I despise that microphone with every fiber of my being. I needed a microphone that only picked up what was right in front of it, and if something relatively loud happened behind it, the microphone wouldn’t pick it up. The AT2020 did actually quite the opposite. If something happened behind the AT2020, two rooms away, and it was downstairs, the AT2020 would pick that up and seem to amplify it. The E835 does the opposite. While in a server with my friends while playing games I can be bashing my mechanical keyboard, which is less than a foot away from the E835, and nobody will hear a thing. Go back to the AT2020, and you can hear when my dogs are walking downstairs, because that microphone will pick up EVERYTHING. The E835 is, in my opinion, the best cheap dynamic microphone under $100. When paired with a audio interface, such as the U-PHORIA UM2, this microphone is amazing. I would recommend, though, that if you are using this in a gaming setup as your mic to record or stream, to get a noise gate. Either a software (NoiseGator with VB-Audio) or a hardware noise gate/sound compressor would make this microphone leaps and bounds better.

The quality of the microphone is fairly Robust and should be able to take some drops and abuse, but the carvin is More robust and around 40 years old still ticking, sound quality is higher pitched and more sensitive to voice pickup and feedback. I actually like the sound of all the mics I have. One thing for sure in the future I won’t be buying microphone’s I will be replacing the cartridge with something better. This mic has a nice well rounded sound, I also compared this with a sure beta 57a I bought and I have used my buddies sure sm58. I would say this mic fit’s in between these other mic’s Nice clean sound. Now I just have to pick up one of them caral mics I have hearing about

I’ve been in bands and around music since 1986 and recently bought this mike for my daughter who’s doing live performances and home recording as well. I was blown away at the high quality of this piece – it’s built like you’d expect something German to be built, and it feels like it should last forever with just reasonable care. The sound clarity is amazing, it is extremely sensitive, and there’s no buzz or hum whatsoever in the unit we received – honestly, one of the clearest microphones I think I’ve ever handled.

On the weird side, bought this through Amazon, and it was delivered simply in the little zipper bag designed to carry it, inside the standard Amazon brown box – no retail packaging or directions whatsoever. I rather get the feeling this mike was part of a bulk buy and they took a bunch of them out of one large box and just shipped them in their self-contained “gig bags.” It was well-wrapped in bubble wrap, but it just struck me as odd that it didn’t come in a factory box with any directions or warranty cards or anything of that nature.

The microphone itself, however, is better than anything I’ve seen from Shure, Audix, or anyone else for that matter. HIGHLY recommend this one.

I plug this mic into my audio interface for home recording and Zoom calls that require better audio quality. I’ve used it only once in a live performance setting so far, but it worked wonderfully. I loved how my voice sounded with it, and various singers also used it throughout the show, with beautiful results for all of them.

If you need a rugged mic for your musical adventures, this will do nicely. It has no on-off switch, so there is one less part to fail. Recommended

compared to the xm8500 this is much better doesn’t get boomy and distort when close talking on the ham radio I know 5 times the price but worth it to me I run it through protools EQ Gate and Limiter with a Pureformer transformer and Mbox mini on the vhf uhf radio but on the hf radio directly into the radio with a little EQ adjustments in menu and
little gain sounds great ,I have not tried the sm58 but I bet they are close ,I have heard the sm58 changed the quality in the last 5 years so im not taking a chance, I do have the foam on it because if I close talk, it cuts back on air puffs but not needed there is foam on the inside of the grill and the element is on a shock absorber and is very directional to the top so it doesn’t pick up unwanted sounds unless they are in the top direction,so if you want a crisp natural sounding microphone this is it
