I have a Jeep Wrangler and if any of you have ever owned one, you know they’re prone to overheating with thermostat failures among other things. Mine threw a code for thermostat so I changed it with one from the local AutoZone store. After a couple of months it was like it never even happened and went back to overheating. Took it back and exchanged it for another one which did pretty much the same thing. I started to think I didn’t have a thermostat problem so I changed out the coolant sensor flushed my coolant system and burped all the air out that I could find. Even the local mechanic who vacuumed out all of the air and replaced it with coolant said it should run fine now. It did not in fact made it worse. After thinking long and hard about this, and looking through countless posts online with similar issues, I decided to look for a better quality thermostat and bought this one from Gates based on reviews. I must say, it fixed it immediately and I will update this review a year from now and see where we’re at but it definitely made all the world of difference immediately. You can even tell by looking at the picture it’s beefier than the one to the left of it which was AutoZone’s garbage. If this thermostat works as good as I think it will, I’ll be a Gates fan for life!

Installed a Carquest thermostat and it only lasted one year. So hopefully going off gates good history of parts this will last a lot longer.

I usually like to go for oem parts when possible but with the national back order on these from Jeep directly and after speaking with the dealership that recommended the gates part I am stoked I went with it. Install was simple enough and it hasn’t skipped a beat in 2500 miles. No more low coolant temp code

Check engine light trouble code said low coolant temp. I read reviews and was concerned about not having OEM part, so Gates seemed to be a good option. The price was good. Shipping was fast. I did the job in one hour and had no trouble after watching a YouTube video. The light cleared the next day after running errands. I can’t imagine having to go to the dealer or repair shop.
