I can’t spoil it, but the lore is amazing, the graphics amazing, and everything just feels so comfortable. Love the theme of the cats too.

It’s a fun story mode, I only wish it was longer or if they would let you explore once the story mode is done. Either way it was fun.

The game is awesome, a little too short but when you have a family, you don’t have 100 hours to put on!

Have you ever wanted to be a cat and explore a post-apocalyptic world with a robotic sidekick? Well, STRAY is the game for you! After much cajoling, I purchased this game originally for my daughter, since she loves cats and saw this game all over YouTube. I quickly picked up the game and played it after watching her play it for a little bit.
Be warned, this is a very short game in modern gaming terms, with about 8hrs of gameplay unless you REALLY drag it out. The graphics are so-so, but not bad for a lower budget studio. The story is surprisingly good, and you get emotionally invested in the life of this little unnamed cat and your little robot drone buddy “B-12”. There are a few side-quests that are easily missed, but necessary to get the 100% completion. You can run around and do silly cat stuff, and some of your cat antics will help the robot citizens of the city. Plus, did I mention, you can MEOW whenever you want to and there is even an achievement for meowing a certain number of times on Playstation.
The difficulty level doesn’t seem to be able to be selected, and some of the areas can be surprisingly difficult to get through without some some fancy cat footwork. My daughter got frustrated and asked for my help a few times, but still overall enjoyed the game. The ending is a real tear-jerker, and leaves room for the possibility of a part 2 (please?!!).
Overall, this was a fun game with the extremely original concept of being a cat. I’ve never seen another game like it, and I am here for it!

I have had my PS4 since it first came out, and the games continue to roll in.
This game, Stray, was given consistently high marks, and I thought, why not?
Bottom-line, Up-front: the game is fun. It is linear with little replay value, and it is family safe.
(Please see the enclosed pictures.)
The idea of the game is very novel. You are playing the third person version of the cat. You see over its shoulder. The cat can only do cat things, run, strut, groom other cats, etc. You were living in a cat paradise when you fell, got hurt, and now, you need to survive.
The game takes place either in the future or some alternative world. You’re a cat; so, you cannot read or understand the signs and other artifacts of the now dead civilization. Something is guiding your actions though (yes, the player, but in the game, you see arrows pointing out which direction to go).
The controls are not hard to understand. You learn them through trial and error, and the first fifteen minutes of game play have a few rudimentary learning situations. There is no user manual, but there probably does not need to be one.
The graphics and sound are a bit dated looking at this point. The whole atmosphere is washed out and muted. Is that because you are a cat? I am not sure, but the game came off as a bit subdued. You can adjust the volume and brightness, but that is about it.
The game play is consistent from level to level. Some events and areas are quantum level harder than others. During one early chase scene, you are being swarmed by jellies and you have to run full tilt and duck left and right. If you try to double back, you die. So, I had to run the gamut a dozen times or so before memorizing the appropriate path through the maze of death. In other cases, you just fumble around trying to see what to do. Except for the deadly bits, there are few pressures to do things except the need to just press on. When you quit the game, you just come back to the last challenge.
The engagement from stage to stage varied. The early bits were interesting while you were learning the game, and it was fun to see the cat doing cat stuff. Honestly, it was a bit like combat. There were bits of terror interspersed with long, boring bits. While I have never been a cat, it seemed an accurate reflection of what it might be like to be a cat.
Additional notes: It saves at regular intervals. When you fail, and you will, you only got back a few minutes of game play before getting a chance to try the challenge again.
The story is essential linear. The replay value is low.
All in all, it is a safe bet for the cat lover in your life, but it is not a must-have game.

It’s a beautiful game; I’m not sure of the objective. If you were ever curious about being a cat, then this is the game for you:)
