We used to be big fans of paper litter, but our brand of choice stopped making paper litter and it got expensive. So we decided to try this after being assured it was safe for people with allergies. It sure works for us, which is a surprise! And, it controls the odor and absorbs an insane amount. It makes cleanup super easy, and just comes right out of the litter box we use for our rabbit. Really controls ammonia smells. An 8lb box contains enough to do about 4 fills on a jumbo-sized cat litter box for a rabbit. If you’re a paper litter person, you should try this instead.
Update 4/29/2023: My rabbit has developed sore hocks and cannot use this bedding anymore because it’s too hard. Make sure to check your rabbit’s back feet regularly on this and provide soft bedding for bedtime.

This product so far has been very effective in my small chicken coop/run for my 2 hens. My yard is very muddy, so I added a layer which was thin with the 20lb box. Then spread pine shavings on top. Much drier now. Smells great. But it’s only been about a week with lots of rain.
Going forward, I’ll be getting a 40 lb bag from Tractor Supply Store for $7.49.

I first ordered these pine pellets directly through the company store (small pet select) and they smelled like pine and were of different quality, color, and odor. The pine pellets from Amazon are more orange in color and smell like detergent; they don’t absorb as well either. The pine pellets from SPS are more natural in color (light brownish-gray), smell like PINE, and absorb much better. Of course, worst of all, my rabbits seem deterred by the new smell of detergent “pine” pellets. I bought through Amazon’s subscribe and save due to shipping costs on SPS, but it seems like they don’t sell the same product (lesser quality to Amazon and original quality on SPS). Will probably look for another pellet source if I can find one that is more consistent, convenient, better in price, etc…it’s a shame since SPS was a company I felt was reliable and cared about their quality in their products wherever it is distributed.
Updated review 05/2024:
The second shipment was a lot better and had the natural pine odor and color I was first used to when ordering directly from SPS. The biggest issue, the detergent odor, is no longer there so the first order may have been an older batch or something went wrong and it wasn’t caught under quality control. Glad to have the quality back though!

I have not had any problems with my bunny eating the compressed pine pellets, and they work very well. The pellets break down to a sawdust consistency, and help mask the smell of bunny urine. The pellets have helped me give my bunny a cleaner home.

This has been a game changer. I have 3 guinea pigs in separate cages. After a few days, every other bedding I tried would already have a terrible smell. I havenโt smelled that at all since I switched. It is expensive, but worth it.

I use this litter for my rabbit and it is the best one out there. It’s a absorbent, but the pine smell is not overpowering. It works great in his litter box. It’s a great price and I 100 percent t recommend it.

I actually used this for my closed barrel compost system that I had been neglecting and it worked great to absorb moisture and get rid of the stink. Shredded paper and cardboard wasn’t enough, but these pellets were very effective for bringing back a nice ratio of wet/dry matter.
