Small Pet Select Perfect Blend Timothy Hay Pet Food 12 LB Description
- Hand-Selected Timothy Hay – We hand-pack each box in small batches to ensure only the highest quality 100% US-grown 2nd cut Timothy hay arrives at your door. 2nd cut Timothy hay is a perfect balance of stem, seed head , and leaf to provide the rough fiber needed for normal wear to healthy teeth and yummy features with a fresh smell to keep them coming back for more.
- Earth-Friendly Packaging – As small animal owners, we know the importance of packing delicious snacks in safe ways for our small animal companions. No compression packing here that damages stem and leaf integrity, each package is shipped in a high-strength corrugated box for easy storage (and fun digging!).
- Minimally Handled & Delivered Fresh – Make it easy to provide exactly what your little friend needs with regular shipments of fresh from the farm hay to wear down growing teeth and protect digestive health. Each delivery of premium Timothy hay for rabbits, guinea pigs, and chinchillas includes a great mix of protein, fiber and fat to keep them healthy. Your small pet may not thank you with words, but happy oinks and binkies will make you feel like the pet owner of the year.
- Great for Bedding – In addition to being a crucial part of many small pet diets, Timothy hay also makes cozy bedding for hamsters, gerbils, mice, rats, ferrets and more. Since most of us arenโt up for doing laundry with tiny duvets, hay makes a wonderful, fresh smelling alternative that they will love to snuggle into.
- 100% Satisfaction Guarantee! – For you and your pets. We know pets can be picky. If your bunny (or piggy or chinny) stomps and turns up her nose, you can still rest easy.

I have been using this hay for over a year. My little piggies just love it. Itโs fresh and on time. Donโt mind the pick they are camera shy and always have that dear in a headlight look. lol. As soon as I walked away the started playing and eating it up.

This hay is amazing! When I first got my pigs I used to buy hay from pet store. It used to land all on the floor as they was just picking some and didn’t want to eat anymore. Then I found this on Amazon, it was a bit expensive (I thought at the time) but wanted to try as the reviews was really good. Since then I don’t buy hay anywhere else, also encouraged my mother in law to start buying this hay. My girls eat all of it, they literally doesn’t leave the hay rack! That means that I’m not wasting any and it actually becomes cheaper than pet store hay. Great colour, smell. Always perfectly packed in cartoon boxes so that it stays fresh and doesn’t make mess around like from store bags. I highly recommend .
P.S Super fast delivery! Thank you Small Pet Select!

Nice hay, looked green and smells fresh,my guinea pigs liked it. I will be ordering some more.

The hay is fresh and beautiful. It smells like hay that is freshly cut and dried. The texture is perfect and not crunched up. It’s softer because it is fresher and my bunny lives the tadte. I had been using a different brand, but bunny wasn’t excited about it
eating it. After trying several brands, this one is perfect. I love that it comes in a nice sturdy box too. Makes it easy to store. The smallest box has lasted me two months, but still smells yummy. Will definitely purchase again.

Getting 12-pound box nearly weekly for my guinea pigs. Quality is AWFUL last couple of months and getting worse. Hard as twigs. Very long sharp strands that give splinters or puncture skin when trying to break apart. Even my standard house scissors won’t cut through a small bunch.
There is NO WAY this is fresh 2nd cut. I sort tbrough the entire box trying to find softer pieces, and that’s maybe 20% at most. Pigs won’t eat these hard pieces and they resort to eating more pellets because even the softer pieces go stale within a couple of hours in a bowl so I either have to check hay and swap it out evey few hours or I have to go to local pet store to get fresh Timothy Hay. I threw out 2 boxes or 24 pounds of hay from the latest shipments last week.
I canceled my subscription and they refunded me the last 4 boxes because the quality has been so routinely bad.
Waste of money to throw 75% or more hay out so I’m done with this product on Amazon. I’m lucky none of my pigs injured their face or eyes with these twig-like strands.
Pet Select claims it may be Amazon warehousing issues where the shipments out are old or stale from long-term storage and I can’t verify since no dates on the boxes. I will now order directly from Pet Select to see if the quality is better.
So disappointed because this was once quality hay but not from recent experience.
Not the same as they used to be.. –
perfect hay my bunnies loved, it smells amazing and itโs definitely the best quality/quantity for your money!

Excellent quality, fresh and green, far superior to any pet shop hay Iโve found. Our Guinea pigs seem to love it – Anna couldnโt wait for me to fill up their hay boxes she jumped up and started her feast! Good value when bought in large boxes and on subscription – Iโm hoping this box will last our 6 girls about a month or so, fingers crossed!

This is a great way to buy hay, especially if you go through the smaller bags frequently. This stuff has a wonderful, fresh scent and the critters, Guinea Pigs, act like they like.
I only found a little bit of ‘fines’ on the bottom. I suppose I could dampen this powder, compress it, dry it and make some treats.
The hay is compressed in the box, but comes out easy.
Had to order another, as the first lasted since late May, for two GP’s.

Producto muy bien empacado, a mis conejitos les gusto, aunque escogen las tiras mรกs delgadas y planas. Este heno les a caรญdo bien, ya que son conejitos adultos de 5 aรฑos, y no han tenido problemas con este alimento.

Update 5/29/20:
Iโm so impressed with SPS during the COVID pandemic. Early on, I was worried that we wouldnโt be able to get hay delivered on time with Amazon delaying deliveries. I didnโt know if hay would be considered essential. I have it on subscription, and I received every delivery on time, including the extra oat hay I ordered. It was the one thing I havenโt had to worry about for the past few months. It also ensured that I could stay safe at home. Iโm thankful for everyone who made it possible for me to provide for my bunnies during these extraordinary times. It really says a lot about this company.
OP:
Iโve been ordering various hays from Small Pet Select for a year now; timothy 2, orchard, and oat. I used to drive 45 minutes to the shelter to pick up hay for my three bunnies, but that is difficult with my schedule. I also couldnโt consistently find retail bags of hay at local stores or even here on Amazon. Orders of Oxbow hay and pellets would get delayed, leaving me scrambling to keep my buns properly fed. And letโs be honest, retail bags of hay are ridiculously expensive for the amount of stale hay you get. Iโm also careful not to buy blends that contain additives and lack nutritional value for my adult buns (e.g. alfalfa). I do not buy brands like Kaytee or any of those other small pet brands that willingly and knowingly sell food with fillers that can cause serious GI problems for *all* small pets.
After a year of subscribing to SPS, I have to say Iโm very happy with the hay. Out of 21 deliveries, only one box appeared a little yellower than usual, and bunnies still happily devoured the box. Every box looks and smells fresh, and is packed neatly to the brim. Once weโre done with it, we break it down and throw it in our recycling bin. There is minimal waste. My buns go through two boxes (20 lbs.) a month, and we use it for both food and bedding. Unrelated, our cat also likes to sit in the hay with the buns. I really love how much time this saves me, and I never have to worry about keeping my buns fed and happy. I highly recommend SPS for the convenience and quality you get for the price.

I recently chose this hay after trying to decide on what hay to switch my 2 bunnies over to. it took awhile but it was worth the search. both bunnies and mama are happy. usually they prefer the cheaper stuff that’s not the best for them so iam very glad they’re happy with this hay! it’s enough to last awhile for the 2 of them, too; and they still eat their daily recommended amounts. the ONLY thing I do not like is that it’s so much all together in the box it can easily make a mess, so have to take some and put it in a separate container if you choose to and where you dont mind such a mess! I also use scissors to cut it down some to make it easier to grab the amount I need.
all in all, though, this is now our new hay product!

Our guinea pigs, males and females, love this brand. They devour all the cuts unlike another brand name product. My only complaint, although not an entire downfall, is that it’s hard to remove portions of it without other parts cascading out and creating a mess. It’d be great if the larger portions were positioned in the box as cubes instead of layers for an easier transition out of the box and into the pigs’ hay beds and feeders.
