Works well. But cheaply made. The usb-A plastic cover will come apart. Easy fix with superglue, or wrap a rubber band to keep it closed tight.

I have a Milwaukee Axis jacket with Dual Zone heating. Like most users, the main complaint is the bulkiness of the cylindrical M12 battery digging into your kidney. This is mainly a problem when sitting or sliding past a narrow opening…i.e. sitting in your truck then getting out in a tight parking spot.

I searched for a solution for a bit with random battery packs and a USB to barrel plug adapter and had no luck. Apparently the issue is triggering the higher output capacity of the battery pack (if available) and this is where the Smarkey adapter comes into play. By design, it is meant to trigger the demand for the higher output at which the jacket will operate.

I received the updated version, as indicated by the pictures in the description and do not have experience with the older version. If this worked properly, I was planning on ordering two more since my wife uses a Milwaukee Axis Jacket and Milwaukee Axis vest.

I’m not sure if the adapter is working properly. My experience thus far is with a RAV POWER 15000mAh RP-PB231 and has the following working scenarios:

    1. Plugging into the jacket and the correct port on the battery pack, a red light turns on in the adapter. If you turn on one of the zones on the jacket, the percentage for the battery and QC 3.0 indicator trigger on the battery pack and the jacket begins to warm up.
    2. Turning on the second zone while the first zone is already triggered shuts everything down. You must unplug the adapter and plug it back in at this point.
    3. If the red light in the adapter is blinking the jacket will not turn on. The red light must be on and steady for the adapter to work.
    4. Either zone will work independently with the adapter and the battery pack, but both zones will not work simultaneously.

As of right now, I am not sure if this is an issue with the battery pack, the adapter, or the combination of the two.

Or maybe the adapter cannot handle two zones?

On one zone, it is unbelievable how much better this adapter and battery pack work and fit in comparison to the Milwaukee M12.

If I get a chance, I will test with other battery packs. Until I can find a solution that will handle both zones, I will have to hold off on buying a couple more.

    Update 12/27

My wife’s Milwaukee Axis vest only has one zone so I let her try it out all day today. After a brilliant start this morning the power began to cut out randomly. No predictability or pattern before it shutdown. Plenty of charge in the battery pack, around 60-70%. I had her switch to the medium setting and that seemed to fix it for awhile but that soon reverted to random cutting out as well. This is a shame considering how much she appreciated the smaller form factor and plausible longer run time. The real problem is that every time it cuts out, you have to remove the pack from the built-in zipper pouch, unplug the adapter, push the button on the battery pack, and wait to see if the light in the adapter turns to solid red. EVERY, SINGLE, TIME. I would be able to work around this but I cannot expect her to fiddle with it constantly. I lowered the review from 3 to 1 today. I have more battery packs on the way and will update if it is a battery pack and adapter compatibility issue.

    12/29

Running on one zone with my Milwaukee Axis today, the combination of battery and adapter kept cutting out after 22 -25 minutes. It did not matter what setting it was on. I am using a different RAV POWER Battery bank which eliminates it being an issue with the other battery bank. Unless it is an issue with RAV POWER as a whole. It does work, but not as intended which is disappointing. So close to finding a solution…

    1/6/21

Sending it back. Using it with a third type of battery bank (all have the required QC 3.0) the results are the same or worse. Considering that both zones never worked and that it is extremely inconsistent across various battery banks, it looks like this is not a short or long term solution. That is too bad as it had much potential.

Returned the first and the second broke the first time I used it. It did work for almost 15 min before just sitting in the battery pocket of my Milwaukee heated jacket. Was trying to return it a second time, but I didn’t realize they shortened the number of days between me getting the second one and being able to return it.
So I guess I’ll try and find a different seller who isn’t selling garbage. Thought it wouldn’t be because of the price, boy was I wrong… Would buy another one from they If they drop the price to $0.05. and gave me my $15 bucks back.

wasn’t sure what i would get out of this in terms of time, but i thought it wouldn’t hurt since the 2.0 m12 batteries only gave me 30 mins of high heat. At first, i plugged it into my 12000mah power back and it didn’t work. it is a QC3.0 port btw. the led on the new version of the adpater just flashed and then turned off. not really sure what it’s suppose to do here since there were no instructions. after a few more attempts, i started to get worried that i got a busted one. since it wasn’t working, i tried it in a QC3.0 port on a wall charger and the LED went solid and my jacket worked! plugged it back into my power bank and it’s been solid since. on this power bank at 12000mah, i was able to get 3 hours in high setting. hope this helps someone if they run into the same issue.

It works and is exactly what it says it is. Not much to say here about this product. I think it’s good.

This product works fine for my Milwaukee jacket M12 You just have to click on the switch on the power bank for it to work. Still worth it!
