It’s soft, easy quick change for passages(just toss it down) and doesn’t scratch up your bell. Good bucket mute sound or to warm up. Better than the bulky buckets.
Easily stored. I can wear it as a hat.😊

This is a lightweight, quick answer for a bucket mute. It slips on quick and easy and can be a nice little practice mute as well

I use this as a pseudo-bucket mute by putting it on half of the trombone bell, and it sounds great. Also doubles as a practice mute (I don’t use it that way since I have a regular practice mute that works better). Great because it fits so well into anything – bone case, mute bag. A nice addition to a big band mute arsenal.

I am finding it very useful as a warm up mute. It is a better option to carry as a warm up mute because it is lightweight and takes up vey little space in a gig bag or mute bag. I do think based on the sound it produces it could be a good alternative to a bucket mute for those on a very tight budget

The pictures I’ve included compare all 3 sizes. The large tenor trombone size is in the middle in both pictures. One thing that I’d personally recommend is to buy the bigger size if you’re uncertain about the size. I’m too lazy to check it right now, but from what I remember, getting too small a size is much worse than too large a size. If it’s too large, it’ll catch on your bell and remain lopsided, but if it’s too small, you won’t be able to put it on fully, so it’ll regularly fall off.

I have the bass trombone size but it is too big for my 9.5 in bell. So I tried the large tenor but it is too small. I primarily want to use it as a bucket mute.

Fun! Make sure you check which size you’re getting… this one works well with my King 2B, a very small horn.

The “practice mute” function, which allegedly happens when the neoprene edge is flush with the bell and the mute is blown up like a balloon, is not really very quiet.

That is a secondary function, though. This has absolutely replaced the bucket mute for me. It sounds like a bucket mute, doesn’t scratch up my horn, goes on and off easily, and fits into my mute bag easily.
