I know, the last thing you’d care about, but it sounds like a rubber kickball from those bins at Walmart. Everything else is good.

The basketball arrived over-inflated. Like, hard as a rock. There was a sticker on the ball, over the valve, that says not to remove the covering over the valve or it will “negate the product warranty” since it’s supposed to stay inflated for an entire year. I’ve sent Spalding an email asking how I can remove some of the air without negating the warranty and will update my review once I’ve heard back. As of now, the ball could be used if absolutely needed (since it’s the right size and shape), but it will not be a ball anyone would actually want to use. Hit the rim, and this ball will bounce a mile. Dribble it, and you might break your hand. Yes, those are exaggerations, but the ball is still way, way too hard.
UPDATE: So I reached out to Spalding Customer Service, and after that exchange, I have changed my review from 2 stars to 5. Their customer service is some of the best I’ve ever experienced: fast, friendly, and solution-focused.

My son is a ball player and has used other brands of basketballs like And 1 and Wilson and never did either of them last only 3 months. The And 1 lasted 1 year and the Wilson lasted a little over 10 months. The reason I purchased the Spaulding was because it was advertised as NEVER FLAT but that is clearly untrue. I contacted Spaulding months ago to exchange this basketball for a new one. They responded that they would send another one, in fact it was being shipped out on Aug. 30, 2022. I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED THIS BASKETBALL!!! I contacted them again on Nov.16 asking, “WHERE IS THE BASKETBALL” only to receive a response from Spaulding saying they need more info from me and they were going to close this case!!! BUYER BEWARE

I read reviews on indoor/outdoor basketballs prior to purchase, and this one consistently rated towards the top, if not the top recommended. Purchased as a Christmas gift for my son, and it shipped and came.already inflated. Unexpected surprise that panned out, because as he was opening it, I realized I didn’t own a needle to pump it up. Truly, this spalding is “never flat”. Dad joke provided free of charge.

I like the fact that it never needs to be inflated but after a few uses, it began to have bulges. The deformity isn’t too bad where it affects the dribbling or handling but it is felt when shooting.

Ok I just bought a new never flat, but my first is around 15years old, it was exclusively used outdoors in Ohio and when not in use kept in a non heated barn. It’s still not flat! But it’s pretty smooth at this point.
