I know. Omega 3 fish oil is supposed to be great for you, not only for your heart, which the ad mentions, but also for your joints and brain. So I was excited to get this, as we have been taking fish oil supplements since my kids were little. This comes in a tremendous bottle, chic-looking but also not see through, so the oil doesn’t get rancid. Just opened it this morning and took my first teaspoon full. It was very lemony, and while there is another taste underneath, it doesn’t make you gag or anything. You can just tell something else is going on. I plan to put it in the fridge now, also so the oil doesn’t get rancid, but that’s just my preference. Might even taste better cold. I’m gonna try it in my lemon drink tomorrow, since I usually have several of those a day, and use Agave to sweeten it, but then use a matcha blender to mix it all since the agave is heavy and sinks. Hopefully, it will add additional lemon flavor to the mix without that questionable second flavor note. Otherwise, for my health, I don’t object to taking this, but so far I gotta say, the kids Omega 3 capsules are better. No fish burps, though, which is usually the nastiest side effect of taking oils. I give it an “A-” right now, but will keep experimenting to see the best way to consume. I’ll update this review if I find a better way than just slugging down the teaspoonful. Looks good and clear. Doesn’t have an off-putting smell. Good cap to keep air from getting in/oil from leaking out. Good amount, too. They say you get 48 doses.

This bottle of Sports Research lemon flavored fish oil says it “is a product of the USA and is proudly manufactured in the USA.” The bottle also indicates it is certified by Nutrasource as compliant with their International Fish Oil Standards (IFOS), is certified by the NonGMOProject as compliant with their standards, and has the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification checkmark on it. It also has the MSC certification number on the bottle indicating that it was made in an MSC certified sustainable fishery, so one can contact MSC and verify with MSC that it is MSC certified. These certifications are legit standards by legitimate entities that certify fish oil and marine activities, and they indicate this product was and is made with high quality fish oil in an environmentally friendly and sustainable manner. I commend Sports Research for putting these things on the bottle, and especially for making this fish oil using high-quality fish and in an environmentally friendly and sustainable manner. This is extremely important when one considers the amount of pollution in the oceans and waters around the world and how important it is to aquatic life, to future generations of humans, and to humans consuming fish and fish oil product that fishing be done responsibly and that humans consume good quality fish and fish oil. It’s also important when one considers that there are a lot of fake and low-quality supplements in the supplement market and many of them will claim they are “certified,” but they don’t identify who the certifying entity is on the bottle or in the product description. Here, Sports Research put this stuff on the bottle so consumers can know this is a legitimate high quality fish oil supplement and made of good quality fish obtained and made in a responsible and sustainable manner. I commend Sports Research for doing so.

As for this fish oil itself, I have used fish oil supplements for years, typically in capsule form, so when I saw this liquid lemon flavor form I wondered if it would go well in tea, so I got it to try it out in tea. It mixes just fine in tea. It gives the tea a tinge of lemon flavor without any noticeable fish smell or flavor at all. Even when I took a spoon of this liquid by itself, it just tastes and smells like a mild lemon. It does have the oil consistency and oily feel like fish oil, but no flavor or smell of fish. The only perceptible flavor and smell is of a mild lemon flavor. It’s not a super strong lemon flavor or smell, just mild, but it is mild enough that you can taste it in tea if you put a spoon or two of this in a cup of tea and drink it. The bottle is dark brown and opaque, to prevent light from getting inside of the bottle (which can degrade the fish oil and lemon flavoring over time). The amount of fish oil in this bottle (8 ounces/237 milliliters) is the equivalent of roughly 200-300 capsules, depending on the capsule size, and at the recommended daily serving size of 5 mL (a teaspoon) it is enough to last well over a month taking it on a daily basis. I’ve been taking it daily for about 10 days, usually in a cup of tea (but a few days I just took a spoon of such and drank it). It’s been great getting my fish oil supplement in without any fish smell or taste.

I strongly recommend this product for consumers looking for a legitimate high quality USA made fish oil supplement that does not have a fish taste or smell. I also strongly recommend this product for conscientious consumers looking for a high quality fish oil that is responsibly and sustainably sourced. I do not recommend it at all for consumers who are looking for a fish oil supplement that has a fish taste and smell, as this does not have a fish taste or smell at all.

Before even trying this fish oil supplement, I was impressed with it because it comes in a protective and unique looking black colored glass bottle. I’ve had supplements in amber colored glass bottles and in blue colored glass bottles, and this may be the first I’ve had in a black colored glass bottle. I like to keep this in the side door of my refrigerator so that it is quick and easy to consume each day. And when it comes to taste, the Sports Research brand has done a truly outstanding job of making this fish oil easier to consume by enhancing it with a very fresh tasting lemon flavor. This fish oil supplement offers high amounts of EPA and DHA and contains 47 servings. And it is cGMP compliant, non-GMO verified, and third party tested. The product description also indicates that it meets MSC Sustainable Certification standards and that the fish oil is IFOS certified. I have the overall impression that this is a great quality omega 3 supplement, and I like it, and I recommend it.

Sports Research Omega-3 Fish Oil, Lemon – Easy-to-Take Liquid Oil for Cardiovascular Support* – 4685 mg of Fish Oil – 48 Servings
Very pleased this is in a black glass bottle to protect from light degradation and avoiding any microplastics. I store the oil in the refrigerator and find taking a dose of cold fish oil is not unpleasant. It is easy to swallow, a pronounced lemon taste, did not cause any gastric distress nor create any burping, etc. I like liquids better than gels as perhaps more bioavailable. This brand has the hallmarks of quality from non GMO verified, third party tested, made in the USA with GMP compliant manufacturing practices. The fish oil source is Alaskan pollock. At almost $1 per serving at time of review a comparable good price for a high quality fish oil supplement.Recommended if you are in the market for a fish oil and will continue to take.
