This was such a great purchase! I love tama. It’s certainly travel friendly as far as a drummers life goes, but for busking it would be challenging. I’d buy the smaller size for that.

I bought TAMA’s unique “Cocktail-Jam” drum set in the late fall of 2024, and I’m VERY happy with it! It sets up and takes down quickly (once I developed an efficient sequence). I’m going to get four more “memory locks” for the snare and high tom arms, and the two separately purchased cymbal arms, to further speed set-up and consistent positioning.
I immediately substituted Evans ‘Hydraulics’ on the two toms. The TAMA snare and kick heads are fine for my small Jazz/Rock/Latin band. I’ve never used the included, black muffling pad on the kick because it deadens the sound too much. Without it, though, the kick and ‘floor tom’ nicely resonate with each other. The 16” diameter kick doesn’t have a conventional ‘bass’ sound: It’s more like a ‘baritone’. But a mic (and possibly a “sound/octave lowering” device–I can’t think what it’s called) may fix that.
TAMA’s “Cocktail-Jam” is a clever, very sturdy drum set with top-level engineering. Its small footprint and reduced storage space (including padded, soft, carrying cases) are much appreciated!
NOTE: The “Cocktail-Jam” also comes in a slightly smaller “Mini” version. Amazon sells only the larger one, which I got.
