I have been using a previous version of this bag for more than 20 years. It was made with leather and was very heavy, but it sure lasted a long time. The metal hooks that held the strap on finally wore through so I bought this new one. The new version is made of synthetic material. It has less storage space but is still adequate, and is much lighter. The shoulder strap, however, it totally inadequate. The bag was constantly slipping off my shoulder from day one. It fell on the ground twice. So, I had to order a nonslip shoulder pad from another supplier to better protect my computer. The Pro Tec deluxe with neoprene pad was a good fit and doesn’t slip at all. With that change, I am happy. So, if you buy this, plan on spending some extra $ on a better shoulder pad. It they sold it with a good pad I would rate it 5 stars. As is, it’s 3 tops.

Compared to my earlier bag (just a regular Hush Puppies laptop bag), this Targus bag is inferior in many ways. For one thing, there is no natural location/pocket for several kind of items e.g., A4 size papers. For another, the non padded compartment (meant for other items than the laptop) could have had more capacity. There was one compartment that should have been given two zips, but is given only one. I don’t know how long the bag will last (not holding my breath there either) but I’m already disappointed after a few days of use.

Very excellent laptop bag. Perfect for my HP laptop. Ample room for accessories.

Pockets are well laid out, laptop section is secure, file section is roomy (although you may want to get a separate divider as if you need more than three sections). Ability to open and lay flat at airport is a real plus and this area also doubles well for carrying books. Quality is good and has stood up well thus far. Only area for improvement noted thus far is that hooks for shoulder strap are on one side of bag so it hangs at an angle (vs straight) and tends to slide off shoulder more easily.

This is the second Targus bag I’ve owned and the last one lasted 5 years. Noticeably better quality than other generic laptop bags, worth the price difference. I bought a generic one first and returned it as I could tell it wouldn’t last. I get a lot of comments on it.

This is exactly what I was looking for! It’s slim but provides many storage areas and the material/zipper/seams/etc. feel of a very good quality. My only complaint is the should strap pad won’t fit to my shoulder if the strap is shortened at all because the plastic fastener ends up close to the top of my shoulder (preventing the pad sliding to cover my shoulder).

Targus is the only way to go. I have this case for a 15.4 Toshiba and a different Targus case for a 17 inch Dell laptop. I looked at all the cases at the big box office supply and computer stores and Targus is superior. Better padding to protect the computer from bumps, great inside pockets and the Zip Thru feature can’t be beat. I’ve never had to remove the computer while using Zip Thru at airport screening. Only one TSA employee has ever said anything about it and that was to show appreciation because it made their job easier. There’s plenty of room for the computer, accessories (power cord, mouse, head phones, flash drive, etc.), cell phone, work documents, a magazine for the trip, and a bottle of Mountain Dew and bag of Doritos to eat on the plane.

I spent more money to get what I thought would be a better quality bag from a name brand.
The bag has the requisite front flap, inner storage area, a center pocket and the laptop pocket. It’s large enough for a 15″ laptop.
Unfortunately, the bag overall feels flimsy, the material is very thin and pliable. The shoulder strap attachments are stitched on but doesn’t feel very robust. The straps themselves feel thin, but have metal buckles. There is some padding around the laptop compartment, but not enough to feel secure about it protecting the laptop from any significant drop. Walking around with it, I do not have confidence that the strap will hold and not drop the bag to the pavement.
This bag feels like something my company would have given out as a freebie ten years ago.
I am already looking for something more sturdy.

As the title states, this is s great bag especially if you need more than just a travel pocket for your computer. Well-built, good protection for my laptop, separate compartments that easily accommodate charger, mouse, files, pens, etc. Not too big. Just right.

Good Purchase , perfect for carrying 2 laptops (14 inch), chargers, headphones, earbuds, note pads.
Total 4 opening (Zip) to the bag and perfect for daily usage. I really recommend.

Overall, it is 16 x 14 x 5. Exactly the dimensions I was looking for.
There is a paper divider in the main compartment and the zip-in-half feature works well to store even more paper/magazines.
At the bottom of the laptop section there is a removable foam bar encased in plastic which is velcroed to the bottom of the bag which cushions your laptop from any bumps from setting it down (or hitting the bottom of my bike rack). See the photo I uploaded for more information.
One thing to note… the shoulder strap attaches to the same half on each side. I note this because other variations attach at either side of the split, which allows you to open it all the way and still fling it over your shoulder without zipping it up and allows it to hang perpendicular. This one does not, so you will need to zip it up before proceeding past the security section (or use the handle — assuming that the TSA agent does not force you to remove the notebook). Plus it hangs at an angle, pressing into you as you carry it. Not a big problem, but I think it is worth noting and I would have probably preferred it otherwise.
The one downside of this case… it protects your stuff and divides it to make everything easily accessible so well that it becomes a bit bulky and heavy and does not hold as much as I’d like. However I deliberately avoided a messenger bag for that lack of padding and organization.
