Update 25 May 2024: Still going great. Still quiet.

Got it this morning. Popped it in my tower PC. Formatted with Win11. Started moving about 4 TB from the NVME drive to this one. The transfer is running at ~240 – 300 MB/s. It seems quiet to me. Every once in a while I can hear the head motor do an access, but that’s about it. I’ve had some noisy drives in the past too.

Noisy clicking and ticking sounds annoying

This Toshiba N300 Pro NAS drive is reliable and good value for the price. It works well in a 24/7 NAS setup and has fast and reliable performance. However, it can be sensitive to ESD, has inconsistent service and support, and is louder than some other NAS drives.

Was really hoping this would work out. Turned out it was DOA. Loud and whining.
Waiting for a replacement. Hopefully it isnt DOA as well.
Have bought other Toshiba drives without issues. Normally the performance drives
Could not initialize the drive and eventually it stopped responding.

Resonable price for the massive 20TB storage with trustable quality controll
30days return policy is also very satisfying

This is the standard drive I use in most of my NAS devices. We have a dozen users who use files on the NAS 16 hours a day, 7 days a week and these drives hold up well. In the past five years, out of 24 drives, I have only had 1 fail. I have tried other brands in the past with slightly worse stats. Note: Toshiba manufactures many other brands as well.

They have carefully packaged products not like other companies. well “the company start with S”. That is very important to online shopping, as most of the transportation methods are quiet poor and Violent And no problem for NAS using. and I am useing it for Qnap tvs-673a. it can be a reference for other.

I had been running a plex server with up to 18TB or so in content. This was split over 3 external usb drives (8TB, 8TB, and 6TB) but I have been running into issues with what appeared to be the drives going to sleep. However, it was the 8TB drives just simply dying, looking at the smart stats they are erroring billions of times. So, I decided to stop buying drives from Costco and just slap in some enterprise drives to my dedicated Plex machine. I paid slightly more than the lowest price for these because I wanted them to be sold by amazon. I have bought other IT items from sellers on Amazon but sometimes you get refurbished gear/drives with it being disclosed.
The price per TB is higher than normal, a good price for drives in this size is around $14 per TB. So far these drives are 100% performant regularly hitting 150MBs + and have 0 errors on them. They are rated for way higher usage that I will ever use. As I migrate data and fill up these drives I will buy another as needed.
100% recommended.

I prefer these ones over the Seagate refurbished ones cause i tried both and I got the best experience with Toshiba.
