Kevin Corkum –
Very good as expected.

I wish I had purchased this book much sooner. Russinovich not only explains how to use certain tools but he goes into somewhat of a primer on Windows internals such as how processes are created. I would say that this is an introduction to his Windows Internals books. Read this book before trying to get into any of the Windows Internals series as it might give you some visual context from the SysInternals tools when reading the much more advanced and in-depth books.

as i have only just started to use this book with the sysinternal tools, i have found it to be a great insight into parts of the tools i didn’t know where available to me and a better understanding of the parts that i did. it also offers “direction” in trouble shooting problems. (excellent for sometimes just getting started to trouble shoot your problem.).
thanks.

This book is loaded with good information. I bought to try to solve a problem occurring during a Windows 10 update. I found what I need, now I have to try to put it into practice. I am also looking forward to using other features in Sysinternals Tools now that I have a very good guide to get me started.

This book is well organized, and is ideal for diagnosing and solving most MS Windows problems.
It is a great read for gaining a deeper understanding of the inner workings of all versions of Windows.
I highly recommend Sysinternals and this book, Troubleshooting with the Windows Sysinternals Tools.

Troubleshooting With the Windows Sysinternals Tools is an expansive instructional reference manual that provides detailed instructions for using a toolbox full of free apps available on the Microsoft Website. The book is well written and very detailed not only in the description of each tool and what it is used for but also provides an expansive explanation of how to use each tool and how to interpret the results which will lead to a solution. The authors of the book are the software engineers that developed the apps. The book also presents many example problems and their solution using the tools. I highly recommend this book for the IT professional involved in their day-to-day work of problem-solving. The reference also lends itself to those wanting to gain more knowledge of the Microsoft Operating System.

Another detailed book from the guru. Quite technical as you’d expect but surprisingly easy to read. It’s almost worth reading just to be reading for recreation. It’s on my coffee table at the moment so I just pick it up and read a random chapter. It’s that good and interesting even if I never have to use it in anger.

Windows Sysinternals Tools: The names speak for themselves.
Barb Iredale –
I recently started a job as a forensic engineer. I’ve never been a Windows developer/admin and this book is helping me get up to speed.

While I’ve used SysInternals tools for years, I finally decided to purchase this book and I do not regret it. It’s allowed me to take a fresh look at Windows diagnostics. I am glad I bought this – it’s already helped me while working helpdesk.
