This violin is beautiful and I really wanted it to work but the tuners are so mushy that I couldn’t even get two of the strings in tune. The pegs would just bounce right back. Unfortunately I have to return it.
If you could find one at the dollar store it’d be better. My friends warned me about buying cheap instruments, I didn’t wana listen. They were right. Don’t buy –

I want to start off by saying that the tuning pegs actually work perfectly to hold tuning when you set the strings correctly. The violin arrives with the strings completely detuned. After you set the bridge and as you tune up the strings, push the strings toward their respective tuning pegs. As you turn the peg, the string will start to grip the tuning post and push the whole post inward to a point where the tension increases the more to tune to their respective pitch. I will make a video on how to do this and I will post it to the review. Currently, I have the strings tuned to pitch for the past couple of days and it has been staying in tune very well.
This is a great electric violin for beginners. It is not completely silent but it is fairly quiet compared to a real acoustic violin. I love that there’s a headphone jack for quiet practice. There is no 1/4″ jack to connect the violin to an amp but it is possible to convert the headphone jack to connect to an amp with an adapter.
The one main complaint I have about this violin is the workmanship. The tuner box is not properly sanded at all. The painting just globs on there which shows all of the imperfections inside. The neck was masked off during the painting process so that the surface was bare wood. However, the masking was done very poorly and you can see where the paint was seeping through and you could feel the bump in the different surfaces. Lastly, the bridge was cut in a way that made the string action feel a bit high off of the fretboard. it’s not too bad but it is high enough to be noticeable. I ended up having to file down the bridge ever so slightly to lower the action. If you feel like the action is too high on the violin when you try it, take it to a professional and have them lower the action a bit. On the bright side, I didn’t notice any egregious imperfections on the fretboard to cause any buzzing. It also looks like there’s a sufficient amount of neck relief as well.
The rest of the items included in the set like the bow, shoulder rest, clip-on tuner, and the rest of the accessories are sufficient and work well enough to get you started. The case is very nice and lightweight for being protective and portable. If you’re looking for a good beginner’s violin, I can’t recommend this enough.
