I upgraded from 512 GB to this 4TB SSD. I purchased this drive in combination with an external 1 TB SSD so I could clone it back and fourth. Worked perfectly. This drive is also so much faster than the OEM SSD. Noticeably faster. Quite a nice upgrade.

I’ve been using it for the past month, all in all a very good ssd solution for anyone who doesn’t won’t to blow their budget needlessly on storage. Fairly fast, stable, easy to install. Still a bit pricey for the value but beats the expensive alternatives.

I bought two of these 1TB drives to replace some generic 512gb units that came in some prebuilts. These drives are an excellent value in terms of cost and what you get. On the PCIe 4×4 bus they’re designed for they absolutely achieve the advertised 4150Mb/s in both read AND write operations. Sure you can get faster drives but they also run hotter and are considerably more expensive. The SN580 is a great middle point. Although I run these(and all of my nvme ssds) with heatsinks, temperatures were just fine and actually lower than the drive it replaced. Acronis’ software is included for drive cloning and some other tools and I used it to clone these drives with not a single hiccup. A few stats for nerds… these are DRAM-less drives and employ an SLC cache of around 350gbs. 112layer Kioxia BiCS5 TLC NAND is used. Once that cache fills up though you can expect around 3-400Mb/s. Overall, still a great budget drive with decent performance for all kinds of users. Works great in PCIe3x4 slots as well at around 3500Mb/s R/W as measured in CDM. If you can live without the DRAM, seriously look at these drives.

I was updating an old PC from Gen 3 intel cpu and motherboard to a Gen 8 for my kids (gen8 cpu and motherboard were much less than $200 total). I had added decent amount of ddr4 memory, more aggressive cpu cooling, and a much better video card as well (I had upgraded my video card in my rig so had a spare available). But it still was bogged down. Finally figured out it was constantly hitting the old hdd. Pretty much 100% disk usage constantly.
This M.2 was under $60 even when adding sales tax in my area. Installed this M.2 drive in the computer. Did a clean windows install on the M.2 drive and then set the bios to boot from it. Works great now, runs fast on everything they need. The 1TB is more than sufficient. Old hdd is bulk storage if need more space for things like pics. Overall the system is now overkill for running stuff my kids like such as Roblox and Minecraft. Plus with Gen 8 hardware I can run windows 11 if I want to upgrade from windows 10 when it isn’t supported (upgrade is currently free).
With a grand total of less than $300 in upgrades (not counting the donated parts from my rig upgrades) it works easily as well as a prebuilt gen 10 system for what my kids do. It wouldn’t do that without this M.2 ssd drive, and the <$60 cost is great.

Easy to install and after downloading the cloning software from Western Digital’s site, cloning your existing disk for a drive size upgrade is easy. My objective was to upgrade my current 256GB m.2 SSD with this 1tb WD Blue drive.
For the cloning, I used a UGREEN M.2 NVMe Enclosure, USB 3.2 Gen2 10Gbps Tool-Free Enclosure for NVMe PCIe M-Key(M+B Key). Make sure you initialize this disk 1st using Windows Disk management utility though, or the free cloning software won’t see the drive. Start the cloning process and after it is finished, shutdown your computer and replace your existing m.2 drive with the cloned drive and turn on your computer and enjoy upgraded system! Your old drive can now be used as a spare drive if you install it in the USB drive adapter and using the free WD software, you can make it a data drive.

I’m really happy with this purchase, roughly $128 for a WD 2tb sn5000 pcie gen 4.0 M.2 ssd. Easy to install and is a quality product Western Digital has been around for a long time. I highly recommend this if you need a fair amount of storage space while sticking with a name brand without spending too much.

Install it and forget it. So easy. It’s gay and a great price plus it’s a WD Blue which means it’s built for a lot of writing to the drive and for large files. I have not noticed a slow down on large file transfer.

La capacitรฉ de 1 To est parfaite pour stocker ma bibliothรจque de jeux STEAM sans me soucier constamment de l’espace disponible.
