Susan M Werner –
I really like this, the three compartments are roomy, it rolls easily, and it took me less than 5 minutes to assemble (with no Frisian all). I highly recommend this laundry sorter/hamper.
AMac –
This is exactly what I need. I can easily roll it into a small, oddly shaped, laundry room so I can put the laundry directly from the sorter into the washer. The bag area is shallow enough that I can easily reach to the bottom. The wheels work well over bumps and surface changes that casters would have trouble with. I’m disabled and don’t need or want the kind of sorter with separate removable bags, since I wouldn’t be able to pick them up and carry them, and most of them look like it would be easy to knock them off of the rails. The frame is kind of flimsy, but it has held up pretty well over almost a year of regular use.
So, why am I only giving it three stars? The bag quality – or lack thereof, and a first ever fail for Whitmor customer service. The seams were uneven and crooked to start with. The fabric is thin with a very tight, non-breathable weave. Some of the seams were ripping after slightly less than a year and I sometimes need to leave damp or wet items in the sorter for a couple of days, so mildew was inevitable. The bag was relatively easy to get off of the frame to wash (you do have to take the frame apart to remove and replace it) and it washed fairly well, but the fabric did hold on to the stains, despite using chlorine bleach.
I have a number of other Whitmor products and have been generally very pleased with the products themselves and good customer service when needed, so I decided to check into getting a replacement for the bag. I went to their web site and looked for information that I failed to find, so I used their contact form to ask about it. I finally ended up finding out that the cost would be $7 plus $5.99 shipping, so half of the purchase price of the full sorter. But, I would need to phone them to place the order. Now using my phone is fairly difficult due to hand problems. It is hard to enter a new number and then hold onto the phone during the call, let alone trying to hold the phone and my card while reading the numbers. Plus, while some people are concerned about entering their CC information online, I’ve always been a lot more concerned about giving my numbers over the phone to a person I don’t know.
I would have taken it down to two stars, but my issues with phoning are a personal problem. So now I’m looking at either ordering the complete unit again, or trying to find a replacement that will work with my particular needs and limitations.

Way bigger than I wanted

This laundry sorter looks very nice however almost every seam along the top is ripping apart and I just started using it.

This laundry cart is convenient because it can fold up, and it has nice deep pockets, but that’s all I have nice to say about it.
The frame is wobbly. If you only ever have to roll your cart in a straight line then you won’t have any problems. If you expect the wheels to TURN you will be disappointed. I’ve resorted to just dragging it down the hall on more than one occasion. I could’ve drug the one I already had.
I’ve been doing research online to see if I can find some better wheels. I’ll be going to Ace Hardware downtown tomorrow to buy some caster adaptors for tubing, then I’ll try to find some stem casters WITH BALL BEARINGS to replace the old casters. The only other solution, if that doesn’t fix it, that I can think of would be to rig up some sort of bracing system for the legs of the hamper. That would render the hamper no longer foldable-uppable (new word I just made up) but I’d be ok with that since, in all honesty, I ALWAYS have dirty laundry. ALWAYS.
But, having said all of that – this hamper, although cheap, is not worth the money. I’ll have invested hours in trying to figure out how to get it to roll properly. I already bought $7 worth of PVC pipe and adaptors to try bracing the legs (which I have to return because the size I got was too small) and stem casters aren’t cheap. I guess I’m a little stubborn. Most people would have already dropped this guy off at their local thrift store to be someone else’s burden. Sigh.
(Note: the really good, sturdy hampers usually have a “shelf” bracing the legs, beneath the bags. I never noticed that before until I got one that didn’t have that extra stability.)
NOT RECOMMENDED.
Update: I’m still within the return period so I’m returning this laundry cart. The wheels are not functioning properly and I’ve invested enough time into trying to fix the problem. I’ve purchased a much more expensive laundry sorter from the Container Store. It cost 59.99 but seems so far (just put it together tonight) to be worth EVERY penny. Rolls beautifully, wheels pivot flawlessly. Exactly what I was expecting but didn’t get when I ordered the Whitmor. I have discovered good wheels are very expensive, by the way, which is probably part of the reason the Container Store cart costs so much!
Whitmore Laundry Sorter Not Recommended based on inferior wheels. 9/11/15

wow, good product

SADLY – (3rd update), as much as I love the look and effectiveness of it for sorting clothes, the middle seam tore down so now it’s only a 2-section sorter, with one side 2ce the width of the the 3rd side. I need to find another one now that has room underneath for shoes, like this one did.
Oh my gosh! My cleaning lady just left and she said “maybe we should just push it town onto the wheel”. What a concept! It worked and now the wheels are secure! 5****
I love everything about this EXCEPT don’t try to move it! Even though it’s “set on” wheels, they don’t screw in, so if you try to move it, the wheels come off and you have to flip it over to put them back on. Having done that once, I hardly move it – even the cleaning lady knows not to.
Marge Alton –
Love it. Easy assembly.

I wanted something that folded and rolls, and it does! But on 2 occasions I have put stuff in and heard a ripping noise. I found and sewed the parts, but would think a double stich or something a little more heavy duty could be used.

Goes from the bedrooms to the laundry easily across my tiled and carpeted floors. If it had problems someone must have been listening. Holds a lot of clothes and great for sorting. Stores easily in my laundry room closed up. Great for the price point.
