Love the price. Love the grip. Love the ease of use. I lose a pair of clippers every year it seem. Will be keeping a better eye on these.

Sharp, nice heft to ‘em, but they don’t open too well & frequently get jammed up by a weed, not a big deal or effort to pull it open, but slows down the weed trimming time

This review is for WORKPRO Garden Bypass Pruning Shears, 8.5″ Garden Pruning Scissors with CRV Integral Forged Blades, Garden Clippers Hand Tools for Cutting and Trimming Bonsai, Branch, Herb, Rose, Flower. This pruner is sharp and cuts small branches nicely and cleanly, which is expected because it is still new. After several pruning jobs, I would agree with the product description that this bypass pruner is more suited for fresh wood and regular pruning. It is not really suitable for removing old, dead and/or diseased branches. It is also more ideal for deadheading, trimming, shaping roses, and other small branch shrubs. For heavy duty pruning, I don’t think this pruner is made for it. The blade doesn’t seem as strong as it could be because after a few cuttings, I could feel it rubbing against the bottom piece with each cut. Also, at its widest, it was uncomfortable for me to hold and cut larger branches because my fingers would be fully extended. I was getting tired of overextending my fingers to grasp the handles when attempting to cut anything close to ¾” diameter in size. I think the handles could be redesigned to not be so wide apart when fully opened. I have several pruners that do not have this issue and are comfortable to use for long periods of time.
What I like most about it though is the safety locking mechanism. I can close and open it with my thumbs easily; and while working, it doesn’t just lock up as does some of my current pruners, which is very frustrating. The non-slip handles felt nice and solid as does the spring. The color should be something other than green though so that I can find it more easily in the garden. Overall, I think this is a decent pruner and useful for lighter jobs. Therefore, I would recommend it just for light pruning and quick trimming jobs and give it a 3.5 / 5.0 – 09/06/2022.

These work so well. Bonus that they are inexpensive. Bought a 2nd pair.

I bought these for trimming my rose bushes. They are lightweight and fit well in my hand. They are comfortable to use. They easily do the job they were intended for. They are a good value for what I paid.

I was looking for a pair of bypass shears for green, non-woody flower stems and branches, of various sizes in our garden. I will be happy to use these to trim and prune, and cut flowers for wife’s bouquets she enjoys.
I have three other hand shears similar to this that I’ve used on both woody and non-woody stems. Problem is: instead of cutting smoothly, the more delicate non-woody cut flower stems often are mashed and wedged between the blades. This ruins the flower stem and requires one’s hand to force the blades back open.
These, however, cut flower after flower with ease, with nice clean cuts, and, without effort, sprang back open ready for the next cut. I have made a few hundred cuts so far, for cut flowers and for deadheading. I was very pleased with the results. There were zero damaged cuts.
I will be using these solely for green, non-woody flower stems. It appears from experience mixing the two doesn’t work well.
These look well-made; the finish was nice and smooth. I see nothing that makes me concerned about their longevity. If the sharpness holds out, I’d expect them to last years.
The fit and feel in the hand was about average or slightly large. I wouldn’t say it was the most comfortable I’ve ever used; nor uncomfortable. Middle of the road here.
Overall, they certainly meet the main task I need and will be using them for pruning and trimming green, non-woody stems, and cutting flowers.
I have not, and will not use them for cutting woody small twigs and branch tips, so I can’t speak to that. I want to preserve the sharp blades for delicate work.
Pros:
– they work well at least for cut flowers and other green, non-woody stems
– they’re sharp out of the box
– they have an easily operated thumb latch for locking
– they are quite solid
– the material covering the handles is comfortable
– they spring back apart easily
– very well packaged
– they were mostly comfortable to use
Cons
– some may find them slightly large. When they are fully open, either my little finger doesn’t extend far enough to put pressure one of the handles, or I have to choke up past the ‘front of handle’ bumps to get all four fingers to put pressure on the backside of the handles.
– some may find the spring tension slightly hard to overcome (but it makes them spring apart consistently)
– they are slightly heavier than most of my others. These were 10 oz on my kitchen digital scales, where, for comparison, my other three similar shears were 8 oz, 8 oz, and 12 oz.
My wife, who doesn’t have small hands, but doesn’t have lots of strength in her hands, said she would be able to use them.
Untested:
– I don’t know how long they will keep their sharpness
– I don’t know how well they work on woody stems or branch tips or how well they will continue to work on green, non-woody delicate stems after being used on heavier woody stems.
– I don’t know how they would feel if one had to use them for more than, say, 1/2 hour.
– the flower season is ending here now. It will probably be next summer before I get to use them more regularly and thoroughly.

Although they feel slightly more heavy then other garden trimmers, they work as good as you need them too. Great price
