I wasn’t even looking for one of these, but couldn’t resist trying it! We have been making tea every day for years. Healthy choices are something very important to us, but it’s a deliberate daily decision.
If you’re looking to make tea while you’re traveling, this would be a great choice!

My wife does NOT start her day without coffee, and she works to make it the best coffee she can. At home, she roasts coffee beans in small batches so they will be fresh. For the RV, she takes whole beans, vacuum sealed, and grinds them as needed each morning. Our RV is tiny, so storage space is limited, and the big kettle we have at home isn’t a good option. When she saw this collapsible kettle, she was excited at the prospect of not having to heat water in the microwave or on the camp stove.
Having completed our boondocking trip with this kettle along, my wife has removed the camp stove from the RV and sworn off dealing with boiling water in the microwave (tended to spill going in, out, and pouring). She loves this collapsible kettle, tiny warts and all.
The warts are the electric cord is hard for her arthritic thumbs to plug and unplug from the kettle (especially when the base has gotten hot), and the provided cord is just a little too short for reaching from the outlet to the counter by the sink. I’ll give her my box of electric cords for her to pick out a replacement.
According to the RV power system, the kettle pulled 935 watts, not 850.
The max fill line is hard to see: it is a slightly raised part of the silicone body of the kettle. I highlighted the line with a black Sharpie and that solves the problem as long as we don’t clean it off. The perfect amount of water for two cups of coffee is below the max fill line, so it won’t be much of an issue.
Neither of us has had any problems with the handle being hot or steam hitting our hands (and we pour with the lid raised).
I wish the temperature dial had clicks or something to tell by feel what setting the dial may have reached. Have to squat down near countertop level and peer at the dial to see if I’m stopping at the right place for the water temperature I want. I hope by the time this one wears out, there is a digital model with presets. Would also be an improvement if the whole base wasn’t attached to the kettle.

I’ve been cutting back on how much coffee I drink and starting the day with tea instead. Since I travel every couple months, I wanted something I could take with me to make it easier to make tea while on the road. We already have a kettle but its fairly big (not portable), all metal and only has an on/off switch, which means I have to stand there with an instant-read thermometer in the water while it heats up to make sure it doesn’t get too hot (I like my water about 165 degrees for tea).
This wonderful kettle has an adjustable temperature knob, which has a blue back-light while the unit is heating up, and the kettle shuts off (the light goes out) once it has reached the appropriate temp.
Now, the labels on the front are not at all what I would use. For example, the “Make Tea” label is close to boiling and way too hot for my taste. In fact, I set the dial at about 11 o’clock, just past the milk setting (I marked it with a sharpie). It took me a few tries but after measuring it with my thermometer, that spot gets the water right to 165 and then shuts off. This allows me to do other things while the water is heating up, knowing I can come back in a couple minutes and it’s the perfect temperature. And I literally mean a couple minutes – it takes just about 2 minutes from the time I plug it in to the time it reaches temp…not bad.
The kettle comes with a short power cord that detaches from the unit. It also includes a carrying pouch. I haven’t hit the road with it yet but it’s size with “squished” down is pretty small and should be quiet easy to pack (I’m talking about road trips, not air travel).
Overall I really like this kettle and I use it every day now for my tea. Highly recommended!
