We purchased this for our Model Y to transport multiple bikes including an E-bike. This is the 3rd bike rack that we have purchased from Amazon bc the other 2 were garbage and fell apart. The 2nd cheaper rack ended up costing us over $700 due to the cost involved in replacing my broken back window in my Model 3! I hope my wife has learned her lesson — you get what you pay for and being cheap isn’t worth it!

The rack is a very good bike rack, bike was a return so advertised in very good condition. Two of the 6 mill screws where cross threaded had to retap. The bushings on one of the arms would not fit all the way in , made it work. I would say these where the reason the rack was returned. I should have paid the extra hundred for a new rack. Did not want to repackage and return an 80 lb bike rack. Packaging was already pretty beat up. Also package was delivered to wrong address.

I have only used it once so far. But much better built and sturdier than previous rack I have. Only concern I have is if I will have to keep tightening the arm screws

We have 2 wheel recumbents, one longer than the other. This rack has the ability to move the trays to fit each bike and securely fasten them. There was also enough room between the bikes. Recumbents are hard to fit on bike racks but this one fits perfectly, is well made, very strong, sturdy and safe. We are thrilled with it and glad we took a chance on it.

I like the rack ,it work great .
The only thing I dislike is .
Why there are little tie down on this rack. Most people have fat tire bike. So what happen now,you have to buy them now.
The rack is not cheap, yes it is well made .the cost is little high.you could throw two little one and two big tie down for the fat tire bike. But no there $16.00 to be made .but I still like it.

Once its together, its a good/decent product. But mine had a defect in the handle and Jimmie Christmas was this thing difficult to put together.
1) The plastic handle at the end of the rack that you pull to raise and lower the rack was cracked when the rack arrived.
2) There are 8 bolts that secure the bars that hold the bikes to the bar that pivots up and down. Those bolts are incredibly prone to cross-threading. If you are not holding the bolt perfectly perpendicular to the bolt hole, even if your off by only 5 degrees or so, it cross threads rather than working into the proper groves like a normal bolt. But since the bar does not rest perfectly flat before being bolted in place, I had to have a second person come over and twist the bar as I get each bolt started in its hole. By the time I had made several attempts, diagnosed the issue, and got a second person to start assisting, it took me an hour to get the 8 bolts done. I’m an extremely handy person, I can fix just about anything and have plenty of experience with bolts and screws. But these are some of the worst, poorest quality bolts that I have ever seen in my life. (The bolts are a bit tapered and tip, which I’m guessing is the issue, but it could be the nuts, I couldn’t examine them closely because they are welded inside the bar.)
3) There is a thin coat of plastic like veneer on the parts. When I tightened one of the aforementioned bolts, the bolt griped into the veneer taking out a decent chunk of the paint job around the bolt.

Used on camper van with two light road bikes (emonda and Roubaix) with nylon cover that weighed no more than 6 pounds. One arm broke off and the other is bent and ready to break. Yakima says it is from the use of cover and is not their problem. Lots of travel in that 7 months but for a premium rack rated to at least 50 pounds per bike come on. Deep in manual it says you can not use bike cover so it was my mistake for the purchase. So you can’t protect your bike on long trips with a cover if you want any kind of warrantee.

I had multiple cross-threaded holes with the first tray I attempted to install. What should have been a 20-minute assembly turned into multiple hours of gently trying every bolt in the cross-threaded holes. The tray is supposed to be able to be installed centered or off to one side so you’d think at least one position would work – you’d be wrong. For this price, the quality from the factory is almost unbelievably bad. I didn’t even get to the point where I would attempt to install the second tray so I could see just how bad that one is. I’m returning this scrap heap and would suggest anyone reading this to go with another company…any other company.

I purchased this and it was delivered. No where in the listing or on the manufacturers web site does it say that it can’t be used with a bicycle with fenders. I called Yakama and they said yes it does look at the pictures. Well it shows bicycles without fenders but no where in the pictures does it say you can’t use this on a bicycle with fenders. It does say it works with most bikes and most bikes come with fenders.
