YAMAHA Electric Violin-YEV104BL-Black-4 String

For being an electric violin, its sound is pretty similar to a normal one. Easy to use and it is very light.
Great for when you want to not make a lot of noise when you practice. You can still hear it even without connecting it to an audio source, but it’s still very quiet to not be heard if you are in another room.
The only issue I had with mine is that the on/off button doesn’t seem to work. It works as if it was always on when I connect it to the amplifier.

I wanted to practice violin but with my spouse working from home, I had few options. I wanted to try a silent violin or electric violin and fell in love with the appearance of the YEV-104, but I don’t have an amplifier, and you can’t plug headphones directly into this instrument and expect to hear anything.

I was delighted to find that I can indeed get a decent, though quiet, sound from the YEV-104 without an amp! It’s like playing my acoustic violin with a practice mute. I can hear what I’m playing, the wood of the frame resonates like my acoustic, and my shoulder rests fit perfectly. The YEV-104 weighs more than my acoustic violin, but otherwise, feels the same. It fits my standard violin case.

The YEV-104 is gorgeous to look at. The sculptural look of the frame, an infinity-loop, caught my eye the first time I saw it, so it begs to be played. It will be an eye-catching instrument to perform with.

I am a classically trained violinist/fiddler, and have been playing for over 60 years. This is a fine electric violin, at a great price. I have played a number of electrics including the supposed “electric strad”. This relatively inexpensive (1/4 the price) simply blows them away (and looks better). Very satisfied.

Well built looks nice and have a rich nice sound. Of course, there are better sounding options out there but for the price couldn’t ask for more.

You cannot get more for less money. The better violins cost vastly more but are not crazy better than going with this. Diminishing returns for the money once you move up the price range. What’s cheaper than this is not nearly as good. So this violin hits a sweet spot in the market. If you buy this and give up on playing the violin or hate it, then you’ll have no trouble selling this. This isn’t about what’s best but more of a value for the money should you be serious about getting into violins or adding your first electric to the collection. Also, isn’t that such a pretty shape? Ergonomics are great if you are coming from acoustic violins and the extra weight is more towards your shoulder so you can still feel comfortable with this one. If your brand new to violins and want sonething that can be played quietly or paired with wild effects for fun, consider buying one of these. Find what works for you, however do yourself a favor and go through a ton of research. You’ll be glad you did. I must go now, lots to learn on a violin. Patience lol
