I purchased the Trimmer Grip Extension Handle because I saw it used by lawn care pros. I figured if they used it, it was worth a try. I wasnβt disappointed. It makes a big difference when trimming. Itβs less tiring and gives me better control of the trimmer. I also like that it came with nice gloves, easy instructions, and a shoulder strap (not shown in my photos) that helps as well.

I have always experienced lower-right back discomfort when using string trimmers and edgers for extended periods due to having to adopt an irregular posture for protracted amounts of time. This Trimmer Grip alleviated it! For context, I’m 6’2″ and use a Stihl Kombi with string trimmer and straight-shaft edger with the unit on my right side. I have about five hours combined use between the two attachments while using the grip. Materials and construction are very robust. Installation is simple.
A few tips that worked for me:
First, although the clamp grips the handle precisely and tightly, it is a bit slippery, causing the handle to rotate when picking up the tool by the grip no matter how tightly the screws are torqued. To solve this, I taped a single 1″ wide strip of Gorilla tape lengthwise along the portion of the handle that the clamp grips on to. (Wrapping the whole thing prevented it from being inserted into the clamp due to an excessive increase of the diameter). This gives it much, much more friction and bite, keeping the grip from rotating for the most part — I can still adjust the height of the grip on the fly if need be with substantial force, but for all intents and purposes, it makes for a solid, stationary connection. (There have been no slipping issues at the shaft attachment point, so no modification has been necessary at that connection.)
Second, finding the comfort sweet spot took some experimentation. When using the grip on the string trimmer for the first time, the grip merely transferred previously experienced back pain into my left forearm because my elbow was consistently bent. I got it dialed in by tweaking the height of the grip over the shaft in combination with how far down the shaft it was mounted, all the while making sure I was standing up straight, no bent elbows, and the trimmer head was at the height I’d be using it. The hand grip ended up being centered over the shaft and parallel to the factory handle albeit not directly over it, but farther down, closer to the business end of the trimmer.
For dialing in the edger, I adjusted the positioning as above, but I also rotated the handle 20 degrees or so to the left so that when I’m standing in a natural, upright posture while holding the grip, the edger blade is not perfectly vertical, but rather angled out to the right, away from whatever I’m edging. This is how I’ve always preferred to edge because it creates an aesthetically pleasing gap between the concrete/paver and the turf instead of making a plain flush cut. I’m happy that the Trimmer Grip could be adjusted for this while maintaining a comfortable posture.
One final note: I find that when edging an area that doesn’t need the manicured look of a blade edger, using the string trimmer instead, utilizing the Trimmer Grip is cumbersome. I’ll default back to the factory handle. It might be a matter of just getting used to it, but for now I just use the factory handle for edging that way.
All in all, I find this grip to be a good design and well-made of quality materials. I feel its beneficial attributes correlate to the user’s height — the taller one is, the more apparent and appreciated those attributes will be. At over six feet tall, I find it indispensable. I will purchase again should I acquire other attachments or otherwise need additional ones.

The handle appears to be well made. The install on my Echo weed trimmer was easy using the supplied bracket and mounting hardware. The handle is larger than I expected but not overly heavy. The mounting bracket is aluminum and the bolts did not thread in easily. There is no way tightening the handle so it doesnβt move back and forth when you get it in the desired hand position. I was too afraid to over tighten because it will strip or crack the bracket. It does help with back relief and the suppled strap was extremely beneficial to help relieve the carry weight. I just donβt care for how the handle cannot be tightened and will eventually work even looser after use and vibration. Itβs not worth the $50 I paid for it. Itβs gone down in price since and I think itβs much better price point now.

So easy to install, set up and use! The easily accessible tabs allow you to adjust while in use. This has really helped with my back problems, keeping me upright and not having to slouch down while trimming weeds and edging.

I have a lawn care business, and use a weed eater quite a lot. Being 6′ 5″, I have to bend over if I don’t have one of these grips. This tool greatly improved my posture, and even gave me more control of the string trimmer. I put it on a Husqvarna 525 L trimmer. It surprised me how sturdy it is.

Easy to install, comfortable to use and fit my trimmer great. It’s a real must have if you have a lot of trimming to do.

Lets start off with my height. As a 6’3 guy, I spend most of my life hunched over trying to do daily tasks. It takes a toll on the back.
Today was the first day I’ve ever used a weedeater without having to take breaks to stretch my back out, or having to use it one handed to not be hunched over just so it can reach the ground.
There was no adjustment period, it felt so natural I had to move my hand back to the default grip just to remember how bad it was.
The quality shows in its weight and appearance immediately. Its solid. It performed as expected and is super easy to use and adjust.
I’ll never own another trimmer without one of these on it.

The product is a game changer when it comes to weed eating for a few hours, Iβm 6ft and most weed-eaters kill ur back after an hour or so but with this attachment I can go for 3 or 4 hours of constant weed eating at a cemetery. Itβs built solid it looks nice no flashy colors or anything, and the grip is nice and comfortable. I would recommend this to anyone looking to make weedeating a little more comfortable and easy on the body!
