ZAGG Messenger Folio 2 Tablet Keyboard & Case Description
- Space Efficient, Standing Design: The Messenger Folio 2 case holds your iPad securely upright so you don’t need extra surface space to accommodate a kickstand. Your iPad locks into a slot on the keyboard and fits neatly into the top of the case, making it easy to use in tight spaces, like an airplane tray.
- Laptop-style Keys: No more cramped typing and misspelled words. Spacious laptop-style keys with clean precise keystrokes make typing fast and easy.
- Detachable Keyboard and Holder for Apple Pencil: The keyboard and case detach to accommodate different uses and environments. The tab for Apple Pencil keeps it, or any other stylus, close-at-hand for when inspiration strikes.
- Highlighted Function Keys: The row of highlighted function keys at the top of the keyboard increases your speed and efficiency. Shortcut keys like Apps Running, Keyboard Hide/Show, Search, Pairing, Play, Next Play, Volume Control and more means you don’t have to hunt and scroll for options.
- On-the-Go Efficiency: Messenger Folio 2 is easy to use when you’re on-the-go with instant pairing and type-C charging—the latest, most convenient way to charge. The magnetic closure holds the case securely closed while it’s in your bag. The Messenger Folio 2 case also has the polished look and comfortable feel of more expensively priced, luxury tablet accessories.
- Long-lasting Battery: Type for up to year before recharging the battery.* Keyboard automatically turns off when folded backwards against the tablet. The sleep/wake function helps preserve battery life when keyboard is not in use.

Perfect gift for my S.O. ! They loved it so much and use it all the time for their college work, they have no relayed any complaints to me about it and it can really hold a charge. Would recommend as a cheaper option to the more expensive iPad keyboards

I love this keyboard. After trying many different style keyboards for my IPad, I have found this one has great feel to the keys when typing. Case is thin but sturdy, with good grip so it will not slip out of your hands when carrying. Battery lasts and lasts and it locks in place when stood up. I would recommend this keyboard from ZAGG.

I bought this keyboard and everything was fine until it stopped working after about 11 months. I wasn’t worried because it was under a 1 year warranty. I initiated a return and after a few weeks, I received a replacement keyboard. Things were good again until about 5 months later when the replacement keyboard also failed. In less than 1.5 years, I have had 2 keyboards fail despite normal, careful use. The second keyboard failed to the point that it won’t even pair via Bluetooth. I contacted Zagg and they told me that they wouldn’t do anything because the warranty was expired. While that is technically correct, neither keyboard lasted even 1 year with the second not even lasting 6 months, so I think the circumstances should warrant special consideration. Very disappointed in this product and the lack of support. Would give zero stars if I could.

Delivered one day early in perfect condition. The keyboard paired quickly because I followed the included instructions. The price was best I could find for a name brand. The only negative I have found is the provision of only one angle for the screen which was detailed in the product description. I will have to get use to it. I will update my review if any problems crop up.

Using with an iPad 9th generation.
.
Good sturdy construction. The covers are rigid, especially the side where the keyboard is located. The finish is like denim cloth and very durable.
.
The iPad fits very snug into the cover. No loose moving around. The plastic brackets where the tablet snaps into place is heavy duty. Looks like they won’t crack from long term use.
.
Battery power is very good. I’ve had the iPad run out of battery one me; the keyboard has not.
.
Bluetooth pairing is straightforward and easy. No difficulty connecting and fairly fast to connect.
.
Glad I bought this. Worth the money and it was not expensive to start with in the first place.

The basic functionality is fine. The clamps hold the iPad security. The hinge doesn’t allow a clean foldback; it’s more of a triangle hinge. Instead of a magnet or set of grooves, you get only one position for the tablet as a hook and slot structure. The angle is ok, but I prefer to be able to have some options. But for a reasonably priced item competing between Logitech (and the Apple Smart Keyboard) and the no-name folios, it comes in right in the middle of quality and design.
The keyboard is quite annoying in how it turns on and off: basically, once powered on, it’s on all the time unless you a) close the folio (as expected) or b) fold it backwards. But if it’s back is not directly against the tablet, the keyboard is active again. This means, for example, that if you grab the iPad with a finger between the tablet and the folded back keyboard, and rest your fingers on the keys for a grip… the keyboard starts typing gibberish. I’ve not once had the keyboard turn off on it’s own when I fold it back with my iPad Air 3. There is a power switch on the keyboard, and I’ve taken to basically turning off the keyboard and manually turning it back on when I need it. It’s frustrating, and just due to Zagg’s design. The Logitech folios detect when the tablet is in the correct position, and only activate then; all other times, they are disabled. This prevents extraneous keypresses. Also, Logitech puts the “home” button on the top right; Zagg on the top left. No real reason for the move , but there it is.
So, for the price, it’s basically fine. If you can afford it, the Logitech’s have more design thoughtfulness. But the Zagg is still better than many of the no-name junky cases available at Amazon for only a slight bit more.

This is my second Folio Keyboard, well actually sixth, my previous Folios ALL failed at the spring hinge joint. Terribly poor mechanical design (I’m an
Engineer).
My first Folio Keyboard was for my old iPad Air2.
Three of these were replaced by Zagg, great customer service and warranty. At least until they were no longer available.
I did modify the last one, disabled the hinge and used duct tape to hold open angle. Not pretty, but effective.
I bought two more thru Amazon when they were available, the first failed (hinge), however My Air2 failed/battery before I needed the last one.
Bought a new iPad and this Zagg Folio 2, keyboard thru Amazon. What an improvement1
The case quality is excellent and the hinge is now a simple folding case.
The keyboard is the same well up to Zagg standards for touch typing, definitive key strokes.
OK, it only has one open angle position, it seems well thought-out for good viewing. Better that than the old variable angle design, which only worked for a short time until the two positions were “Closed” and laying flat on its back.
My only question is durability, it appears sturdy, and I know the Zagg Keyboards are excellent, but I have only had this one month.
At the price I would buy it again.
OK UPDATE! I still loved the folding ability of the Folio 2, so far I love it. BUT, all of a sudden 3-months in it suddenly would not link to Bluetooth. Strangely enough the Bluetooth light was constantly “blue”, pushing it did not change things, still blue still no link. Also the standard ZAGG check battery (CTL+ ON/OFF) did not show and any result. The really crazy thing, was holding down the ON/OFF for 3, 30 or 300 seconds would not turn the keyboard off. To hopefully reset the situation.
Now I admit ZAGG is amazing in their warranty commitment. Purchased my Folio 2, from Amazon, by Amazon, they respect their warranty. (Don’t buy via Amazon thu second party sources.)
New Folio 2 on its way. This keyboard is so good I already ordered, and received another Folio 2 from Amazon. It is still great.
For some reason ZAGG does not off the Folio 2 for my iPad 7/8/9 on their website, only their “Rugged” model, which I think is way to clunky for everyday use.
But they do respect the warranty. Problem is ZAGG resister website does not show the Folio @ for the iPad 7/8/9, only the “Rugged” as dropdown, PHONE 1 (800) 839-390 to register, explain that the ZAGG Folio 2, does not show on the dropdown list. They will find it, be surprised, and register under your name.
Long story, but I love this keyboard, I hope your journey is not as lengthy.

I used an Apple Smart keyboard for a couple years and it was always pretty crappy about connection. I think the problem with that was the pins in the bar that connects to the ipad. When it finally stopped connecting at all I knew I wanted to try something else. I decided on the Zagg Messenger Folio 2 and it has worked out great. I have used it for the last year.
Compared to the Apple keyboard, it always connects though there is a lag at first. The keyboard has to “wake up” I think after being in a sleep/low power mode. It is about 2-3 seconds. As long as it is active, typing response is immediate. It types well and fast, battery is good (never measured it but it goes for weeks between charges—I actually only charge it whenever I think about it which is not often), protects the ipad well. It is thicker than the old Smart Keyboard.

teclado excelente, perfecto para iPad 9na gen, y la batería le dura varios días de uso medio

I brought this tablet case for my mom, who wanted a keyboard that would be simple (a regular “delete” key rather than a “backspace” and “delete” key). As a start, it fits for the iPad 9th generation. Everything came intact, and placing the tablet in the case was a little difficult at first since I thought I would break mom’s tablet but that was because of the sturdy plastic material, which is a good thing! The material that makes up the exterior of tablet case looked like fabric but it’s likely a form of plastic too. In any case, this tablet case should be durable as it seems. Finally, the keyboard was easy to connect as there was some battery when I turned it on (a little less than 50% based on the manual guide but normal so it’s not an issue). All you need to do is turn on the keyboard, the bluetooth key that’s on the keyboard itself (press 3 seconds) , and go to your settings on your tablet to connect. I took pictures so people can have a general idea what to expect. On one of the images is everything that is included (case, manual/guide, and charging cable for the keyboard). Hope it helps!

Really impressed with this product. It adapts your iPad into a neat little word processor/notebook. The case is robust and the keyboard easy to set up by Bluetooth. Have only had it a week but overall impressions are good. Only additional thing I would like to see is a clasp/magnet to hold the case closed.
