Decent rod for 6 and 8 year olds but the string it comes with is very cheap. I put new string on it and works a lot better but the reel locked up after 6 months on one of my kids and I hose them off after every trip to keep them clean

Bought this for my grandson because he LOVES to fish. He just turned 5 and has wanted an open faced reel for a while. Knowing he wasn’t ready for that, we found this and decided to give it shot. It is the best money spent. He has learned to throw it and loves fishing with it. It doesn’t tangle at the end, he just wraps it around the pole as he’s walking around. Lol! But thats an easy fix. Highly recommend for young kids.

My husband (who enjoys fishing) wanted to have a cat toy that he could use to play with cats from any distance in the house. We took a current cat “fishing pole” and hooked it up to this. It works pretty well. My husband said that this pole was actually built pretty well for a kids fishing pole, but the line that comes with it gets tangled easily. (So if you’re using this to actually fish, you might want to get new line.)
