I bought 2 2-packs of these bulbs (4 total), glad to find a good deal. In hindsight, I should have just gone to our local pet store and spent a little more. One bulb lasted several weeks, being on for the day and off for the night (our usual pattern), until we were going out of town for the weekend. We turned the light off so the person watching the house wouldn’t have to worry about it for those 2 days. Upon returning, we turned light on and realized the bulb had burned out. I put a new one in yesterday. Turned it off at night. This morning the brand-new bulb is already burned out! The second bulb lasted a matter of hours! What a waste.

I use these bulbs in a lamp for my red eared slider turtle. It’s a 20 gallon long tank, and this provides plenty of light and warmth through the wire mesh top. They were shipped in good shape and last a long time. The 2 pack is handy because when one burns out, you have a back up and can order another pair. I also went with 50 watts just to keep my energy costs down, and using this for 8 hours every day doesn’t seem to add to much expense to our electricity bill.

I bought these to try instead of pro rep, which need changing every three weeks to a month , this one has a gently diffused heat, which my gekho seems to like .It maybe is not as hot as the pro rep as I have had to rurn the vivarium setting up , but time will tell.

Work as advertised at a great price. I have bought 3 sets and they usually last between 4-6 months with 2 month being the minimum. Mine is on 14 hours a day or 420hours a month. Most commercial incandescent reflector bulbs are rated at 1500-2000 hours average life span. So if I can average 4-5 months of use over time for each bulb, then these are meeting most manufacturers specifications.

2 packs are the best idea. My bulbs burn out at seriously inconvenient times to get a new one; so I always have a backup.

I bought it for my sugar glider but now my sphynx sits on top of her cage and soaks of the lamp too. Not sure how healthy it is, for a cat to be that close to a lamp, but boy, my sugar glider is happy and so is my hairless kittie..

So far, the one bulb hasn’t lasted as long as I had hoped, but for what they are, they work well. I haven’t tested as to whether they are shatterproof or not, but I don’t intend to. Turtles seem to be happy with it and love spending lots of time about 7″ away.

This is my preferred brand of basking bulb for all my reptiles. I have traditionally bought them at a large pet supply retailer, but have consistently had problems with getting bad bulbs. I recently learned that Amazon had these available and decided to give it a try. The price was better and all the bulbs I received were in perfect working order. Best way to acquire bulbs!

It’s a great basking lamp for my milksnake and my leopard gecko. Both my terrariums are set up with Zoomed lamps for their heat requirements.
PROS:
✓ Does not overheat.
✓ Switch is easily accessible.
✓ Ceramic handle and glass-like cover ensure the heat gets distributed adequately and provide my snake and gecko with great basking spots.
✓ Great price and comes with two lamps so you can either use it for two animals or have some refills on hand.
CONS:
✕ The lamp lasted about 6 months on a smart plug that turns it on and off at night. I would’ve expected it to last a little longer, but since it is quite affordable, I don’t mind rebuying it.
✕ Doesn’t come with a stand, if the terrarium or basking spot is right below, it can get quite hot for them. I would recommend buying a stand (not plastic) with it for optimal use.
