This is a must for Leopard Gecko owners. It is the perfect humid hide. I have had no problems with cracking, and it stays over the hot spot of the tub. The small size will be good up to 40 grams. I suggest purchasing the medium for 45 grams and up. It is heavy, so it is not moved around. You can use moist paper towels or moss for the substrate. It will hold the moisture longer than Tupperware hides.
This is an update: These will not hold up to heat. If this is placed on the hot side of tank, they will crack and fall apart. Wish I had known this before I bought six ):

My two young leopard geckos immediately crawled in and now spend most of their time inside together.
I choose this rating because there is NOTHING wrong with this product, and there was nothing I did not like aside from it being a bit small, the leos will outgrow it quickly, but guess what? They also have it in bigger sizes!! I choose size small, but that it my fault and not the products!
This is by far much nicer looking then the tupperware I was using before! It looks great inside the cage, works well, and the leos love it! The hole is on the top so if you put moss inside none will escape! Also the whole top half comes off so you can easily get inside.
I defiantly recommend this to anyone with small reptiles, especially leopard geckos but would suggest maybe getting a medium size. The size small easily fits into my 10 gallon tank with plenty of space left over.

We weren’t sure about size selection, but our tank has limited floor space in a 12×12 tank (18″ tall for climbing). The Zoo Med Reptile Shelter in small works well for the space we have and is definitely big enough for our juvenile crested gecko. I think he’ll be able to use it for quite a while as he grows.
We can probably just use it without the top if he gets to big to use it by entering the top through the hole. The lid stays on well when he’s on it or inside. It’s deep enough to line with a bit of moss and it is very easy to clean due to the two part construction.
He’s already making use of it for shedding from what we can see. It’s sturdy, seems to handle low heat from the heating pad attached to the bottom of our tank just fine – so it works as a warm spot on the INSIDE of the shelter. The top never gets warm from the under tank heating pad.
If you have more floor space in your tank or have more than one reptile, this is probably too small, but it works very well in limited space for a single gecko.

My leopard geckos adore this cave! I bought two of them, one for each of my geckos. At first I put them in the cave so they could adjust, but just a few days after that they climbed in on their own.
This cave makes a perfect moist hide for when my geckos shed. I put sphagnum moss on the bottom, and keep it damp. The geckos love their little nests! I frequently find them on there, regardless of whether or not they are shedding. I have picky geckos. I bought them adorable cactus hides that now sit unused. They are in this one every day!
It works nicely over an under-tank warmer too. My male gecko, Apollo, is pretty long and hefty. He has plenty of room inside. The cave fits nicely in a 20 gallon tank.
I can’t recommend this hide enough. Look at how happy my geckos are!

I needed a humidity hide for my snake and chose this hide because of the look. I really like this hide but the small is a tad bit too small for my 4 month old ball python and the medium is quite huge in comparison. The small hide came without an odor but the med had a strong chemical odor that mostly washed out with some hot water and liquid soap. Hopefully my baby ball is ok with the huge hide. I’ll update with pics once she start using it.

I purchased two of these hides (small size) for my almost 2 foot long juvenile ball python. Before purchasing these I had larger hides that weren’t identical on each side of the tank and she did not like them because they weren’t as snug of a fit for her. I even found her hiding under the water bowl on the cold side of my tank one morning just because it was a tighter fit for her. Poor girl was ice cold when I picked her up. Today I received my order of these two identical hides, I set one up on the hot side of my tank in about 90 degrees, and another one on the cold side at about 78 degrees, and she LOVES them! She barely fit her chunky butt into the opening but man she hasn’t left the hide since I put her back into the tank. I foresee myself needing to order the medium size in the future but I have nothing but great things to say about this hide. I also love that the top comes off for easy cleaning and removal of the snake. Order 2 of these and your snake will love them!
