I can’t fairly rate it with the star system because our box turtle refuses to eat it. She doesn’t even acknowledge the stuff. We’ve tried introducing it to her in several different ways to no avail. It’s currently a decorative rock in her enclosure at this point. Great value/size for a product if your reptile uses it.

In teoria tutto ok. Se non fosse che lo stesso giorno della consegna, la tartaruga è scappata dal recinto..

There seems to be a lot of variety in the quality of the cuttle bones available online and in pet stores, and I was really pleased with the ones I got in the “Turtle Bone” box. They are thick, clean, and of good size. My tortoise isn’t really a cuttle-chewer, but I still like to have them available, and I can tell by the few pecks he’s taken at his, that this is a nice soft, easy to chew cuttle bone, and for the quality, I thought the price was very fair.

My aquatic turtle loves these bones! I think it’s a great way to give your turtle calcium and also help prevent overgrown beaks. I also like to use them as a “food replacement”. Don’t worry, I’m still giving my turtle food, but in the summer she is CONSTANTLY begging for food despite me feeding her A LOT. If I put in a piece of the turtle bone, she will start “eating” the bone and stop begging for a little bit.
A helpful tip though: Break off a chunk of the bone to give to your turtle in pieces. It takes them a while to fully eat it. This is especially important if you have an algae problem. If I put in too big of a piece, algae will start to grow on it before my turtle can eat it all.

A straight forward product. 2 cuttle bones that are easily placed in your reptile pens so they have access to calcium when they need it. I use them for my Russian tortoises and box eastern box turtles. Don’t be worried if they sit untouched, they will eat it when they need it. This was a good price and shipped fast and safe, not broken or crushed. I will be ordering more as I need them. Thank you!

LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! is what my turtles would say, if they could speak! I bought these Turtle Bone Calcium Treats, after reading the reviews, to see if my sliders would like them and they absolutely LOVE them. They don’t just nibble, they take huge chunks out at a time and chow down. My 2 turtles can finish one piece in about a week, so I just put another one in when they’re finished. These will now be part of their regular feeding. As much as I have tried to introduce them to leafy greens, for getting their calcium, they just have no interest in veggies. Kinda like children! ReptoMin has calcium but it’s nice to know they can get it through another source. These are a keeper and a mainstay staple to their diet. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Your turtles will love them, too!

I’ve been using these for years now, and my aquatic turtles (RES) still love them! This is no exaggeration; what used to last them up to 4 weeks when they were babies now sometimes only lasts around 24 to 48 hours (the pigs have approx. 8 inch shells). The bones are meant to aid in the turtle’s shell growth, egg growth (supposedly in females according to the box), keep their beak trim, or even just give them something to chomp on because they probably already try to eat anything you put in their tank. They are a great source of calcium, but I try to limit my turtles to one or two a month, and if they eat it too fast it’s their own piggy fault.
A few things to be aware of:
Depending on your substrate or lack of, the calcium bones might leave visible white debris in the bottom of the tank from the turtles nipping at it.
If you have aquatic turtles, like my RES, then you may hear the bone knocking on the sides of the tank when the turtles try to eat on it. As the turtles get bigger, the knocking gets louder!
Lastly, be careful what you order with these. If you order large objects and have them shipped together, these might arrive all busted up. My RES eat them whole or in pieces, but it can be messy.

This is a great product for our box turtle and our aquatic turtle. They need the extra calcium because their shells require it for strength. Our aquatic turtle sheds a lot of plates and we feel confident he is getting enough usable calcium with this, though just to make sure we use other products as well. The Turtle Bone is just so handy and easy to use.

The only drawback is that in an aquarium, the bone tends to absorb some of the sludge that builds up. But until we got the pond built for this adopted turtle, he had lived his whole 7 years in a 15 gallon aquarium tank. Poor baby! You should see him now in his 50 gallon tank pond. He will need a bigger one in a few years, but for now he is good. I didn’t realize turtles had a sense of play, but his first day in his new tank he wore himself out climbing out and jumping back into the tank. It was very touching.

I am a convert. I used to use bird cuttlebones once in a while because they were cheaper, but was never happy because they sank to the bottom within a day or two and did him no good. This has been in the tank over a month and is still floating. He does not have any problems with his shell, but I know calcium is good for him and maybe will make him look even better. I have still not seen my Read Eared Slider chomp it yet, but as you can see from the picture, he has done quite a bit of munching when I am not looking. I will be sure to keep one of these in his tank all the time now.
