These activated charcoal inserts have worked well in both our Turtle Clean 15 and Turtle Clean 30 external canister filters. The bag makes them easy to rinse, install, and remove in the canister. Even with 3 turtles and about 20 gallons of water the 30 keeps the tank clean for more than a month once the system settles out. I don’t recommend re-using the charcoal insert under these conditions, however, as the water won’t stay clean for much longer, even if you clean the canister carefully.

Just what the mfr. recommends for replacement. Kind of expensive if you need one every month, but I did not notice any other makers selling a similar size carbon granule pack.
The “filter” itself is a 4-stage system; the carbon granule pack is only stage #3. I clean the whole thing frequently, and to save money, I rinse out the carbon granule pack with water and RE-USE it a second time. I hope the turtle doesn’t mind.

I use this for my rather large Red Eared Slider. It helps keep the water cleaner ,and I clean the tank once a week , rinse the filter and it is good to go it will last a month before I need a new one.

Yeah, pretty worth the money since the Carbon itself lasts a good while if you don’t have too many Turtles or Fish or whatever in the Tank you’re using the Canister Filter in.
