A lot quieter than the Frigidaire we had before, which also broke after just a few years. Time will tell how long this one lasts, though. It seems about as well built as is typical these days.
It does cool our house very quickly, but that *should* just be more a function of its BTU rating than anything. Still, I feel like manufacturers sometimes fudge this because it definitely has an easier time than that same old Frigidaire that had the same cooling rating. So LG seems like they’re more honest and maybe underestimate their cooling power if anything. I have this unit cooling the entire first floor of a small house – about 650 square feet. It’s 90 degrees out right now and within 30 minutes of turning this A/C on, my house is cool and the compressor is cycling on and off. It used to take my Frigidaire a couple of hours with the fans screaming like a banshee and the compressor continuously on before it’d get to that point.
It seems to default back to “energy saver” every time you turn it on. Kind of annoying, but that’s probably the best setting in most cases since it also won’t re-humidify your room (which is what happens if the fan keeps running with the compressor off, with any AC). One thing I do wish it had in that case is an “auto-cool” mode like a Sharp AC we also have has; that automatically adjusts fan speed so it’s really just a set it and forget it setting. This AC requires you to set fan speed yourself.
Keep in mind this thing is really heavy – we paid for the professional installation, and you’ll need some kind of bracket or support. Having the slide-out chassis is a big help but it’s still really a two-person job unless you’re particularly burly.
I do agree with those that say the packaging is not up to par. Luckily ours wasn’t functionally damaged but it did have a dent in the outer case, because there’s only about an inch of free space between the casing and the box, with nothing else protecting it on the sides. Anything that hits the side of the box is probably going to hit the air conditioner casing too. LG really needs to improve this – it could easily have been worse for us, and I don’t doubt that it has been for some others. I’d actually recommend buying this locally if you can.

The airconditioner is not functioning effectively despite being purchased only 2 years back.

Very happy with this A/C

Works very well and much quieter than the old one we replaced. Have only used it for a couple of weeks so do not yet know if it is an air conditioner that will last well with no problems. Very easy to mount because you mount the outer sleeve first and get everything set up and then the heavier inner conditioner just slides in. Nice.

A big hello to all my fellow cool people, or should I say, wanting to be cool?
I live in an older house with no central air. Having at least one room that is able to be kept very cold for my huskies is quite important. In the summer they can sleep downstairs in the living room with fans on, the circulation in the house from the fan in the attic keeps it decently cool there. I love to give them COLD temperatures all year round. I, too, enjoy being cool on hotter summer days.
I have submitted this item for return the first day I just got it and had family help me install it. Why?
This unit is a couple of thousand BTUs higher than a mobile Vremi unit I own [which has lost its efficiency after 1.5-2 years]. It does not even perform as good as that one. That was a shocker.
Cold air does not emit from this AC. This was ensuring I had everything set proper. Proper mode, proper vent setting [it can be on or off of course if you want to circulate outside air], and the fact that this cools rooms up to 550 sq ft left me very surprised to see it not work, since the room I put it in is less than 300 sq ft. If I had a king or queen bed in this room, it would be the majority of the room.
The air was mildly cool at best coming from the AC. I even took my shirt off and let the air from the AC hit my torso. Not cold. [60 degree setting]
I decided to run some experiments. I ran the AC [again, proper mode and settings] from 60 degrees to 80 degrees in variance. There was no change in the temperature of the air coming from the LG AC. There was never a shift in the fan or power of the AC either, unless I changed the fan setting. Only F1 seemed to initiate any kind of substantial shift. By that all I mean is an audible noise.
I was in the room with the AC for a couple of hours. It was not cooling the room. [Proper settings, room secure, etc.] I had no choice other than to return it. I even got a prompt saying they would give a partial refund. I would not even keep this AC if they fully refunded me, as it is NOT working.
I don’t expect an AC to cool a room in 10 seconds flat during warmer summer days, but it needs to move the needle.
This has some bad reviews and some good reviews, you’re taking your chance if you want to buy it. Maybe you will have better luck.
As far as any positives I can say since I don’t want to appear to be unreasonable here we go:
The remote control works perfectly fine. I like the cosmetics of the AC and the control panel. As far as the noise level, it wasn’t unreasonable. I left energy efficiency at 3 stars because I cannot speak to that after only having the AC for a day.
If the AC had just worked, it would have been great. I was going to even try to return it for a like item to try another, but Amazon’s auto-return instructions told me I could not do that.
Anyway, hopefully my review could help sway you one way or another on a potential purchase. Be prepared to have to return it.
Edit- Bought a 14,000 BTU GE model AC from a nearby store. Works like a charm. Air was super cool and the low setting was on par with this LG model high setting. Again, I probably got a faulty model, but thatโs my experience.

Great! Works really well for the two bedroom apartment!

Works as well as expected. It’s used in my “man cave” on side of my detached garage.

Before i write anything about this AC ill be honest i have no idea how it is as far as energy efficiency but i gave it 3 stars as a holding place as ive only had it a few weeks. I will go back and update my review based on the next few months power bill. I just wanted to give my initial impressions. Its a very quiet unit compared to our old AC. It seems to be high quality and it cools well. My only issue with it is that the fan doesnt seem to be very powerful thats pushing the air out. That may be because its made to save on energy so that was a compromise im not sure. It still seems to cool the room well and everything on it works well. I love the remote for it as its simple and to the point. The old AC we had the remote was overly complicated and it was a pain to use. This one just has exactly what you need on it and it does what its supposed to. I think some things should be kept simple so i am a fan of that design choice. All in all a great AC im glad we got it. I will say this though make sure you have some help installing it to carry it to the window as its not light. I hurt my back putting it in because i was hard headed and didnt listen to my wife and wait on help and did it myself lol.

Unit puts out a lot of cold air with minimal noise and very convenient being 110V

This AC is huge and powerful! Absolutely love it! Keeps my whole townhouse cold.
