NutriChef Reversible Cast Iron Grill Plate, 18 Inch

I had originally posted a good review as the product worked for my induction cooktop. However, after the second time I used it the grill literally made a loud cracking sound while heating and it cracked. I contacted NutriChef for a warranty replacement. They had the guts to tell me I had to pay for shipping both ways, to send and receive new one back. They sold me a defective product that cracked when heating up. It is cast iron, it should take very high heat, it cracked after two uses on medium high heat…wow. The company is not owning up to their product and forcing customers to add expense to correct their error. Amazon was absolutely amazing, the product failed 3 days after their return window. However, the Amazon agent was very understanding of the issue and she engaged her team leader to make a return exception. NutriChef you stink. Amazon you ROCK!! Thank you

The lip on the grill could have been higher and cooks really well

 I purchased a griddle like this one from another company only it was a stone enamel cast aluminum pan. I keep it because it was cheap and used it until the enamel chipped but it was advertised as cast iron. So most importantly this is real cast iron and it needs to be treated as such.

Do wash it after you receive it and do season it yourself. I usually season my cast iron with different vegetable oils. I think I get a better varnish with a variety. I used grape seed as the first coat, then sunflower oil cause I had it, then grape seed again because I got confused as the bottle looked like my olive oil, which I used on the fourth coat. After that always give your cast iron a light coat of oil for whatever fits your dish that you’re about to cook.

I’ve cooked hamburgers on the grill side. It’s been raining a lot so I didn’t want to go outside. The grill worked like a charm. I used canola oil on a paper towel and brushed it on thin. While the hamburger might have not have stuck anyway because of it’s fat content, I mixed in onions and other fillers that might have stuck before the fat could render out of the meat.

On the griddle side I made pancakes, hash browns, eggs, and nothing stuck because I gave a light oil. So far my seasoning isn’t glass smooth yet and I ripped my egg yokes trying to do over easy. I’ll just have to use it more.

It came with two silicone finger mittens.

Exactly as described. I followed the directions on how to season this pan. It took a lot of time, but the pan turned out perfect. I’ve been cooking on it for a few days now and nothing sticks. The handles are just right, they don’t take up tons of space, but are big enough to move this heavy pan safely. Perfect for tortillas!

The item only arrived this morning so we haven’t used it yet as it needs to be conditioned first (we are going through that process now).
However it does appear to be superb quality and we hope the conditioning will be completed in time for us to cook with hit later!

This cast iron cooking grill/griddle is designed to maximize the usable cooking area. So it’s small enough to be easily stored, yet large enough to cook a for several people. The product was very well-priced and arrived in only a few days. The included silicon safely mitts are a nice added bonus. The texture of the grill is a bit rough and will certainly be easier to clean after 3 or 4 seasonings.

Just received the grill plate and it looks excellent. It’s a bit rough, so a bit scary to put on my glass induction stove, but just have to handle it with care. Tried heating it up a bit and it heats up well, so all great. It comes with care instructions, which is excellent, especially for those who do not have a lot of experience with cast iron pans (like me). It also came with a card to encourage feedback and on the back it says to register on the website for 3 months extra warranty beyond the one year and a free gift (exclusions may apply). So I scan the QR: Page Not Found. I visit the website manually and click on Register “Page Not Found”. Guess I’m excluded?
