Bellroy Tokyo Tote Compact Laptop Bag – Navy

I needed something to carry my laptop, power cord, small bag, essentials, and random papers/items on the train. This is exactly what I needed. It has a lot of room but keeps everything organized and consolidated so I don’t feel like I’m going to take someone out with my bag.

My 13″ Dell laptop had room to spare in the interior pocket. Today I’m carrying that plus the power cord, a small umbrella, a small notebook, and my waist pack, plus mask, keys, phone, and wallet. There’s still a lot more room in the main compartment.

It’s very comfortable to carry. I’m 5’6″ and find the straps to be just the right length. I love the gripper nub on the underside of the straps– they keep the bag secure on my nylon jacket. The top zipper has a nice loop, and it’s easy to open and close with one hand.

The bag feels sturdy and looks sharp. The front and back panel fabric is a little textured and looks nice, whereas the narrow sides and top/bottom are a plainer flat weave fabric.

I’ve seen some complaints about the key fob quality. It’s not the most robust but it seems alright.

This is a GREAT looking bag & seems to be well made. It’s a little smaller than I expected but that’s on me, I probably should have paid better attention to the description. Looking forward to using this as my work bag with my daily essentials. That being said, as mentioned by someone else, the key “clip” is embarrassingly cheap. So much so that I won’t even use it because I know it’s going to break. How a company can have such a wonderful looking product and use absolute garbage for one of it’s features it beyond me. I would rather pay $5 more and have this look nice than what they’ve chosen to use. I removed 4 stars just for this because it goes to show what a cheap company they are & the depths they’ll stoop to just to save a few dollars.

I love that Bellroy uses recycled materials to create modern, unisex bags. So many bags like this are either very feminine or super utilitarian. Bellroy keeps things functional with a sleek style. I currently use this for work but could definitely use it for other occasions as well! This is the smaller version of this bag but the laptop sleeve holds my 13” work laptop. I love the pop out bottle holders which easily hold a 20oz soda/water bottle but don’t expect it to hold your tall steel bottles, it’s not deep enough. I do wish the interior side pocket was a little wider and/or deeper because it doesn’t fit my work iPhone 12 but the outside pocket is very deep and will hold even larger phones. Others mentioned the key holder to be “cheap” but I disagree. Yes, it’s plastic, but it has a nice design to it that is sleek and functional, just like everything else with this bag. I bought the navy and the color is spot on. I also love the extra grip on the underside of the grey handles! Keeps it on my shoulder without having to constantly adjust! Yes it’s more expensive than similar bags but that’s the cost of using recycled materials and green production to create bags that last forever.

Upon arrival and first use, I am very impressed with the room and many compartments in this bag. I don’t need a whole days worth of stuff shoved in this (like a laptop) but I am so pleased with what this offers I’ll be ordering 2 more colors. I love finding things to put in this bag, it’s just fun to fill the compartment! The crazy thing is, you could actually travel with this. I guess my favorite part about is, the construction of it which is sturdy, and not a wimpy, collapsible construction. Might even try try the smaller version.
