I switched my cats on to this because they have developed a chicken allergy. They aren’t sure if they like it yet. Has a different smell to it and seems a little harder.

I have a cat that is severely allergic to chicken. She can’t have any food with chicken or chicken byproduct. This is one of the few “limited ingredient” dry foods that doesn’t have any chicken byproduct. I’ve tried a few others (not blue buffalo) and even though they said that there was no chicken byproduct, I feel like there may have been cross contamination because this blue buffalo limited ingredient dry food is the only limited ingredient dry food that does not make my cat throw up. My only wish is that it was $10-$15 cheaper. I free feed my cats and they don’t seem to have an issue with weight gain but when one cat has an allergy, all of the cats have to be on the same food. I currently have 4 cats so I’m usually buying 1-2 bags every month which really does add up.

My cats do like this. However, I can’t give it five stars because it is a little difficult for them to eat. The food kernels are very small and it is difficult for older cats to chase them around their food dish.

I got two kittens from the humane society in July 2021. I know you are not supposed to just suddenly switch foods, so I took it extra slow as I changed them from the Purina Kitten Chow they had been on, to Blue Buffalo Kitten. They did well for awhile, but then I noticed one kitten suddenly started blowing coat around November. I know cats shed and especially long-haired cats, but this was HORRIBLE. When she would just walk by you she had a cloud of hair blowing in the wind reminiscent of the cloud that followed Pigpen on the old Charlie Brown cartoons. I was having to vacuum the curtains, the carpets and the furniture at least twice a day, on top of which I was going through at least one and sometimes two lint rollers EVERY DAY. I have a large air purifier that normally takes a new filter every 6 months or so, but now I was having to change filters every 1-2 weeks! It was unbearable.

The next thing I noticed was that at times a few minutes after eating, she would throw up. She was scratching constantly and would have sneezing fits that would go on for a full minute or more. She was grumpy and preferred not to be handled. She stopped wanting to play with her sister as well, preferring instead to hide away and sleep.

Multiple vet checks revealed nothing obviously wrong. They both had the softest, shiniest coat the vet had ever seen. I got a lot of compliments on them. But as I searched for an answer, I kept running across food allergies as a possible cause for her symptoms. So I found this limited ingredient diet and decided to try it.

Over the course of a month I slowly switched them over to this food. The sneezing stopped, the scratching stopped, and wonder of wonders–her shedding dropped to a normal level at last!

I will probably never know for sure exactly what was in the regular food that she was allergic to, but am I ever glad to have found this! Now Honey is back to running around the house like her tail is on fire, playing with her sister and being the comic she was as a kitten. Her coat is full again and still just as shiny and soft as before. And the best part is that it comes in different flavors, so I can switch them up every week or so to prevent them from getting bored.

Very good food that I highly recommend. A bit pricey, but I look at it as an investment. Pay a little more over time with the food and keep them healthy; or feed cheap food and get hit later on with a sudden emergency health issue that you aren’t prepared for. I will buy the better food.

First bag was eaten by critters. Called customer service, reordered, bag was delivered today, delivery girl was great! First, the food is Awesome. My cats love it. Unfortunately this type of product needs to be in a box, not a bag so the raccoons or foxes ate the first bag. Customer service was Awesome!

My cat did not handle regular food well and I spent a lot of time cleaning up from occurrences of stomach upset. I tried the really expensive science ones and it didn’t help. Since I have fed her this basics, she has not been sick. Not only is it great to have my happy little girl back, I’m not scrubbing carpet. It is worth it to me and to her. Bonus that her brother also likes it!

I’ve been feeding my cat Blue Buffalo dry cat food for several years. Unfortunately, in the past year I’ve had to take my cat to the vet several times because he stopped eating. After the 3rd episode & some expensive medical tests ruled out any ailments, the vet concluded the problem was likely due to the car developing an intolerance to chicken & recommended a dietary change.

There are very few cat foods on the market that don’t contain chicken (including meal & by products) & since my cat (thankfully) doesn’t like wet food, that made this even more challenging.

After doing some extensive research, I finally discovered that Blue Buffalo had a dry cat food variety that contains no chicken. This is the least expensive, quality brand without chicken that I found.

It’s been 4 months since I switched to the non-chicken formula & all is well.

The only downside is the non-chicken formulas (all brands) do not have hairball control. My cat is longhaired & a compulsive groomer, so I have to give him cat lax (flavored petroleum jelly like substance in a tube) every week to keep the hairballs under control.

I hope my time, research & info will help others who find themselves in a similar situation.
