Well I took it upon myself to install this. The whole thing took about 2 hours as I was moving pretty slow. The exhaust hangers were a real pain to take off but I sprayed some WD-40 on them and that helped. The two studs on the mid pipe were really on there so I sprayed some PB Blaster and that worked. After another set of hands to hold the new exhaust, I was able to hang it.
Then I was able to put one of the two studs on the exhaust flange but this being aftermarket, the flange will not fit evenly over the mid pipe so I had to have an exhaust shop put the other bolt on. It sounds good, little louder than I had anticipated. However, for the money it is a good upgrade.

Great sound. Easy solo install in less than an hour. No regrets even with the price.

This exhaust sounds awesome from a cold startup and right up to the red line. My only complaints are that you are expected to reuse the OEM gasket (not really a big problem for me because my car is new) and it is a little louder than this old fart would have liked. But it is livable and at cruising RPMs (approx. 1800 – 2600 RPM) at low throttle input, it quiets down enough to not piss off the neighbours. This exhaust system is an easy install and requires only basic tools along with either jack stands or ramps.

If your looking for an easy to install exhaust with excellent sound and most importantly NO DRONE! Then this is the exhaust for you! It is loud enough but not to the point that it’s obnoxious. It’s not annoying in the highway or long drives which is very important and you can definitely hear your radio with no issues. It is tuned perfectly. One thing to keep in mind in the installation is Mazda’s stupid bolts. When you try to loosen it one or both may spin out there is an easy solution by using the double nut method but other than that it was very easy. One thing that may be a con, is that this exhaust is way smaller than the original (attached picture) and may mess with the aerodynamics on the underside of the vehicle on the rear but there are other solutions that you can do like a rear diffuser. The tips are atrocious but that can be remedied by buying aftermarket tips. The only other thing that I think can improve this product is probably a midpipe as this would probably make the sound a lot more throatier. Also I think this axle back exhaust is a little bit overpriced and I think probably 500 should have been fairly priced. I have another vehicle (VW) that I fitted with a catback from borla and I paid about $200 more brand new. I bought this at the time of writing at $695. Overall you can’t go wrong with this exhaust.

I installed a VersaTune ” Cracks & Pops ” tune on my car before any exhaust work. I could not hear one crack or pop. I installed this Borla exhaust and I can now hear the pops. The car sounds so much better now. I am installing a Skunk2 header and a Fab9 custom tune tomorrow to really wake up this car but for today I just wanted to hear the Borla. I highly recommend this exhaust. The only issue I had was the right rear hanger arm was bent and only fit half way in the rubber bushing. It was probably due to shipping but I just used a little force to bend it back and we’re golden!

Arrived with insufficient/incorrect hardware. The OEM piece has flange bolts welded to the exhaust . This product does not, which means they should have included stainless bolts, which they did not, nor are they shown on the parts diagram/instructions, which means they have no idea how the OEM is made…Not a great thing to find out Saturday night of July 4 weekend.

Super easy install. Perfect sound… not too loud, not too soft. You can tell the engineers tuned the crap out of it to get it right. Gear changes are met with a cool, short crackle. Cold start is loud. Once you get up running it really brings the car to life. Just enough to know it’s there at normal driving. Great tone under throttle. The disappointing feature was the exhaust tips. I had a muffler shop weld on nice black tips. Could not be happier.

I was able to install this exhaust fairly quickly . It’s sounds very nice and I love the burble and tone it gives the car . It’s not G35 trombone annoying which is what I was going for. 10/10 AND it came with a hat.

VERY loud exhaust, which is amazing if you prefer that! The tone is deep and bassy and has no raspiness. Installation was super easy, just 4 rubber hangers and 2 bolts. I recommend spraying WD-40 on the flange bolts/studs but not the bolts on the other end in order to ensure that the studs come out easy, otherwise you’re going to need a 13mm deep socket to get the stud out of the OEM exhaust. Otherwise, the only other thing you’ll need is a 14mm socket. The flange doesn’t have the bolts welded to it on this exhaust, they are in the bag with the instruction booklet! The hat and stickers that this exhaust comes with are great quality as well. This was my first purchase from Borla and I will definitely be buying more of their products in the future.

Just a heads up this unit although says fits up to 2023 miatas does fit the new 2024 models as well ….. but as some people called out in the reviews I would recommend ordering longer bolts as well to make installation easy….. I had them just in case and ended up using the longer bolts vs stock …. I’m a newbie when it comes to working on car and was nervous about doing this solo vs a shop installing it but after a few videos to know what to do I was able to install the unit in about 20 mins. Sounds amazing and gives the car alittle more growl when you hit the gas peddle.
I used WD40 on the 4 rubber mounts to drop the muffle after the two bolts came off so anyone can do this at home on there own
