Works as promised.

The reed is longer than traditional cane reeds takes some getting used to. Plays loud.

My daughter has been using this reed since August, she plays almost daily. She loves how it plays and her teacher loves the tone. The best thing about it though, she managed to hit the tip of it with her hand, which cut her hand without damaging the reed.
Shelby –
Based on reviews, I expected a quality reed with great tone. I initially had doubts due to its low price and I ended up being correct. The cut is very strange, the reed is fairly large, and it sounds like a 20 dollar kazoo.
Amazon Customer –
As a brand-new beginner on the oboe, I searched around for a good reed to start on. I chose to go with plastic since plastic reeds are less finicky than cane reeds (don’t need to be soaked, less susceptible to ambient conditions). Having no ability to try anything before buying, I took a gamble on the Medium-Soft plastic reed by Chartier. It is an excellent choice, very comfortable and produces a decent sound. From visual inspection, I can see that it is still intact after having played on it for 7 weeks.
Jonathon Mun –
I’ve ordered this reed twice and each time it doesn’t last beyond a week. The reed splits after very limited used. Very disappointed.
Brett Martin –
Not up to snuff. I ordered this because I thought it would be more durable than the traditional wood reeds for my 10 year old son who just started playing. It broke after a week. The fishing line looking material above the thread which holds the two sides together started to peel off and the two sides separated. The reed was easier for him to play when we got it than the wood reeds we had.
Carolina –
When I got it the sound was terrible and very very flat because the reed was excessively long. I cut the tip a few times and actually scraped the corners and the sound and tuning got way way better. However it is still hard to take in. You could study with it but the sound is still very low in quality.
