Smitty 50 –
The system parts were well packaged and easily identifiable. I’ve had experience installing such systems before and the diagrams and explanations were easy to understand. If not sufficiently explained on the wiring diagrams, the explanation was clearly explained in the text write-up for wiring each connector.
The system went in just as easily, and works much better than the system it replaced in both reliability and range. The antenna was installed in the upper driver side corner of the windshield, and although I haven’t tried the system over the full stated range, it does work excellently over the distances I need it to.
I am going to order the upgrade kit to allow two way communication for the system soon, and I’ve no doubt that it will work as well as the system itself does.
One last note–the system I replaced was an ‘Aftermarket Generation’ system and that maker has since gone out of business. That system worked OK for me while it lasted–six years, but I wish I had bought a Crimestopper system to begin with–it is so much better!

The unit is great! Works well and when I had an issue with my door status Rockford messaged back within 24 hours after putting in a support ticket and helped me with a solution to the fix. If you have analog door locks instead of using the Fortin Evo all for door status turn that off in the firmware and just hardwire the door status wire to your domelight. The unit has a built in timer for arming after locking specifically for the domelight.

This is definitely the best alarm system you can get for the price. Also to include it has remote start and keyless entry. It is not to hard to install as long as you are mechanically inclined. It took about 3 hours the first one I did. Just look up the wiring diagram for your vehicle online and match the wiring. Give it a try you won’t be disappointed!

Installed the Crimestopper SP-402 in a 1985 Chevy Camaro. The Camaro did not come with keyless entry and just adding this feature was worth the price. With the addition of Remote Start, I leave the Defrost on high when I exit the car and now the windshield is defrosted and warming when I get in the car on those sub 32 degree days. I purchased a 5-pack of Bosch Style relays to go with this product and used four of them getting everything I wanted connected to the SP-402. The Crimestopper SP-402 and relays cost under $75. Working under the dash of the Camaro was not pleasant and I spent a weekend working in freezing temps installing and testing the product. Most issues were due to old door locks actuators I needed to replace. The instructions are not bad, but I am an electronics tech by trade and do all my own automotive maintenance and repair so I have a good understanding of everything that needs to be done. Before you start, make sure you can find a wiring list or diagrams for your specific car. Websites like wirediagram.com have lists that give you the wire name, color and location for speeding up the install. Get a good soldering gun that can heat large gauge wires as a small soldering iron will cost you time. I have a dual temp Weller 100/140 watt soldering gun with LED spotlight that made heating lots of wires together go quickly. The LED light made working under the dash easier than trying to handle drop lights or flashlights to see the work. I also used heat shrink tubing, electrical tape, and zip ties to cover and bundle everything. I have used the product for about a month now and everything works great. No false alarms…yet.
Update: Remote Start is not working. Diagnostic reads the Hood Switch is grounded. Checked Hood switch and wiring for grounds, no issues. Cut Hood Switch wire by alarm box. Alarm still reads hood switch is grounded. Everything else is working fine. Tried removing alarm fuses to reset alarm – no change. Disconnected the car battery – no change. Checked the header connections at the alarm box. All headers fully seated. Checked the relays. Relays cannot come loose as I have zip ties that run from the base around the top. Relays are still secured. I will remove everything this weekend and give it a closer inspection. If anyone has any ideas let me know. Tried resetting with valet/programming switch and the switch is not working. Called Crimestopper and they had me try all the stuff I had already tried. Ran through it all again and they recommended replacement. Called Amazon and they exceeded my expectation getting a new alarm overnight at no extra charge. Plugged in new alarm and everything is back to normal. Three stars to Crimestopper and 6 stars to Amazon. Thank you Amazon.

Good buy! I installed it on my 1996 Jeep cherokee and now everyones like DAFUC that old car just started on its own! This is able to start my car while I’m on the 3rd floor at work when I go to the window. It’s a bitch to install and your back will hate you for spending a few hours with your head between your gas and break pedal. Read the instructions before buying!!!! I found out once it arrived my jeep cherokee also requires the polarity inverter part #CS-6500 which is also a crimestopper part.

Bought this and installed it myself. Everything works just fine, but the remote would just stop working for periods of time. So there I was in the middle of some parking lot, tearing apart the dash so I could bypass the stupid alarm and get my truck started. Sometimes the remote would just start working again on its own, other times it would only start working after I went through the reprogramming routine. It would work fine for maybe 1/2 day and then the remote would stop working again. Double and triple checked all of my connections, metered the batteries in the remote, everything checked out fine. Just can’t figure out why the remote would quit working like this. Like, even within a few minutes of arming the system, it would not disarm; or vice versa! To say this has been frustrating would be an understatement.
I just decided to remove the whole system completely to return it and discovered that it is beyond the return period. Looks like I am out the money I spent to purchase this, not to mention the hours upon hours installing and troubleshooting it!

I’ve had it for about 6 months and it worked great for the first 4-5 months and then one day it would stop flashing my parking lights and beeping my siren when I would lock and unlock my car. I hooked it up to a multimeter and there was no signal coming from those wires so I didn’t bother with any other troubleshooting because it should still have worked. Will be buying a different brand like autopage or vyper in the near future.
