I should note, fourths strings are NOT for the traditional cellist. This is a tuning more common to upright bass players.
This is a great set if you are coming from bass, and want a higher pitch instrument, but don’t want to lose your muscle memory for improvisation that has been developed by playing fourths instrument for years.. Now for a normal cello player with classical training this is pretty much sacrilege, but tuning a cello to fourths used to be common for jazz bassists, at least on cheap cellos even before these strings were around. With the advent of electric cellos, this has been brought back and these strings are a far better solution. For somebody used to more popular, rock, experimental, and improvised music, and less interested in classical, these are great. This is who the strings are ultimately made for. Those not seeking classical approach to cello. There is a massive difference in learning the mechanics of an instrument, than having to master a new tuning. Especially if you can establish yourself quickly with a familiar tuning instead. For American music (guitars and bass), fourths is more common. This is what fourths strings allow, focusing on the mechanics of bowing based on a tuning you know well, and get running on adding a higher register to your bowed strings. Taking in mind you learn the right bowing techniques.
Again using fourths strings on cello is NOT for everybody. New to music: DO NOT DO THIS. Never played bass: DO NOT DO THIS. Learning cello as a classical instrument: UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES DO NOT USE 4ths strings.
This is really only helpful with those who have established skills in terms of what they are doing, and know how to hit the ground running. Those who have some familiarity with upright bass and the skill to apply those skills to a smaller scale instrument for non-classical music. This is especially useful for people working on their own music and like fourths tuning.
I would like to add, these work best on the NS Design cellos. These strings are specifically designed for cellos though. I am really happy these are around, and they have worked well for me.

Terrible string. I don’t believe it’s genuine. This is the second poor G String I’ve had. I thought it was just a duff string first time but this is a terrible product.

When my G string arrived the string was badly bent and seemed like it had been returned before but shipped out again to me.
