I have been playing 12 string guitar since 1980. I have played Guilds, Taylors, Aria and Gibsons. I own two Takamine F400’s because I love them so much and their sound and playability are amazing. I have used over the last 36 years, several different brands of strings, Erinie Ball, Martin, D’Angelico, D’Addario and probably more I don’t recall. I ended sticking with D’Addario because they kept their “new” tone longer than the rest. They are a nice sounding string, but had a very strong high end the required balancing through the sound board to get some low end on the guitar. I put on these DR RARE strings and initially, wasn’t sure if I liked the sound or not. These are BOOMING strings. They have changed the entire sound dynamics of this guitar. I do recording with it and had to change all of the settings. LOTS of low end, but maintain the balanced highs. I have now recorded with them and played twice in a church setting. I have decided I love them and will never go back to the others. The dimension, harmonics and PUNCH these strings have added are incredible. DR has proven all strings are not equal. The more I play them, the more I love them. I stand about 10 feet from our piano players right ear. He looked at me yesterday after a song, shook his and laughed, pointing to the guitar. He, too, is blown away by the difference just strings make (we have been playing together over 30 years). If you play 12 string and think it is too crisp or tinny, give these a try. If you want to try an entirely different dynamic, give these a try. ———–update 02/2018: these strings last longer than any brand I have ever played before.

I have a lot of guitars, so changing strings regularly and often can really add up fast, so I try to look for strings that last long, i.e. stay sounding good for a long time, and also reasonably priced. These strings definitely meet the requirements and do so at a reasonable price. generally, I tend to favor coated strings for, but if the price is right I would not hesitate to buy uncoated strings. I have been using/trying various DR strings, as well as other brands, for the past 20 years or so, and I have found them to be very consistent in quality and overall, a good value.

Only strings I will put on all my guitars both electric and accoustic. Gibson Archtops Strats SJ200’s best string

These strings bring a deeper, warmer tone to my Ibanez 12 string acoustic. Really makes the instrument stand out from the somewhat thinner sound with other strings. I play them pretty regularly and they hold up a long time. These are now the only strings I keep on that instrument.

They seem OK out of the box. Just installed them and while tuning up the second string it broke at the ball inside the guitar. Now perhaps I did something wrong, but I doubt it. I have been playing and re-stringing guitars (I currently own 8) for 55 years and have never had a brand-new string break while tuning. Otherwise, they sound nice and feel good.

Love these strings. I, replaced my Elixer Strings after 3 weeks and went back to the DR Rare Because I missed the beautiful voice they have. Exceptional low and high end. Church music ministry for 25 years, Ibanez and Ovation 12 String, Ovation 6 string. As you can imagine I’ve played a lot of different Brand strings. Let me say that this is the only one I would rate and review.

Terrible strings. 2 broke on installation and the others were bad for tuning. I’ve restrung guitars for over 30 years and in my experience, these are the worst by far.
