I’ve never really had any issues with elixir strings. Bought one pack that was dead on arrival but I had no issue with taking them back.

I live in a tropical country that normally reports 80% humidity and ABOVE throughout the year. Add some sun and you got that lovely and uncomfortable stickiness that nobody enjoys. With that, regular guitar strings don’t last. Whether you are inland or at the beach, regular guitar strings will rust and snap.

I met a musician who had been living here for years, who represents a major video game producer as a composer, who showed me his guitar and the first thing I noticed was his strings were SHINY. They looked brand-freakin’-new. And I commented: “You just restrung your guitar?”

He said no! He restrung his guitar like a year prior!! But how?! “Elixir’s, man. That’s the secret.” Subsequently, he played a nice guitar solo.

I did my homework and got these strings in October, not expecting much. It’s the last half of JULY and my strings still look freakin’ new! They sound great, they play great. They feel slick on the fingers, which has it’s pros and cons. Less string squeak, more grip needed when string bending. They don’t gunk up and feel sticky after a gross accumulation of finger funk. Win-win-win in my books.

    Overall they are amazing.

I got the phosphor bronze Elixirs for my 6 string acoustic, which sounds amazing; same for my 12 string acoustic, which also sounds incredible; and I have another Elixir pack (nickel plated steels) on the way for my 12 string electric (which feels unheard of).

These strings will definitely not last forever, but they will extend the life of your strings by a LOT. I like to play for many hours along the week, sometimes investing several hours in playing per day. I don’t “shred”, but I don’t believe I play “soft”.

These strings will last a long while, as long as you don’t play with a cutting edge (i.e. fingernails or freshly stamped pick which edges haven’t been sanded/filed) because once the thin plastic is exposed, these strings will lose their magic.

These strings are truly incredible – I put them on my Martin OM-28 and, for the first time, hear every note ring out in a chord along with overtones. They immediately make my guitar sound clear and warm – and quite frankly, like an even better instrument.

We’ll see how they hold up and stay in tune, but based on the reviews, I’m inclined to believe these are worth the hype and the extra $. Very impressive.

I only use Elixer strings they have a very nice tone and do not go dead after a couple plays they last longer than any string I have used

I have used Elixir for years and years. I will say that I have not had great success with the polyweb as I’ve broken a few strings. But the nanoweb have been quality for me.
I like the length of string life and also the bright sound.
They are easy to slide fingers up and down the fretboard as well.

If you haven’t tried these for acoustic, put it on your list to give a chance!

Very expensive. Have a horrible metallic tone. I did not like the strings. Also very hard on the fingers.

    ELIXIR HD Light
    Durata: 5/5
    Suono generale: 4.5/5
    Alti: 5/5
    Bassi: 4/5
    Morbidezza al tatto: 4.5/5

    D’ADDARIO EXP-16
    Durata: 4/5
    Suono generale: 5/5
    Alti: 5/5
    Bassi: 5/5
    Morbidezza al tatto: 5/5

After years of trying various string types/gauges, I eventually became an “Elixir” guy. The tone, feel, and life to me makes them well worth the price. I use them on my Martin’s (D28, 000-28ec, and 000-15m), as well as my Taylor 614ec.

**Now for these specif “HD PB Lights”. I typically play fingerstyle blues and folk, and rarely use a pick anymore. That said, these are “13s” as opposed to the Elixir PB Lights which are “12s”. I prefer the standard lights over the HD lights as they are much easier for bends and just not as much tire on the fingers due to the lighter gauge. I also prefer the little bit more ring and sustain that you get from the standard lights. That said, the HD lights have a great tone and would be a great alternative to the mediums for flatpicking if you want a little more flexibility if you occasionally fingerpick.
Conclusion: I have the Elixir PB lights on my shorter scale, fingerstyle guitars and use the HD Lights on my dreads.
    Happy picking!
