Around 2010 I switched from Ernie Ball to D’addario to try the Hex-core, they were great. 2020 on I started breaking strings frequently, once playing with a band I really like, super embarrassing. Switched back to Ernie Ball in 2022, strings last longer and they stopped breaking. Couldn’t be happier. Using 9-52g on 25.5″-27.8″ multiscale 7 string, standard B.

Sure you can spend more and go to paradigms or other coated strings but I use these and they last a very long time and sound great. Don’t notice any difference between these and more expensive strings like elixirs and such although since I never break strings I debate using those to delay onset of rust. But a tremendously great option that will to me always be the bar to beat in guitar strings

Threw these on my Sterling JP70, and they do what they do. I’ve always played 10s but with the 7 string, I guess the tension is so much more. When bend a string, it seems to be harder to do, or maybe my fingers need to hit the gym lol. But these have lasted about 6 months already, nice and crisp. I play every day for at least 2 hours and as long as you’re not a grub with dirty hands, these strings should last and sound great for a bit.
