Playing acoustic 12strings exclusively all over the USA, I need a long lasting, quality acoustic set of strings.
Earthwood String are the only string I have used for decades.
From a youth playing Sunday Church Service to the rock n rock stage every weekend,
Ernie Ball are the strings for me.

These strings feel and sound nice. They are a bit “tinny” on the bright side, but they were the only reasonable Light 0.009 gauge strings for 12 string guitar, and 0.009 is always a bit “tinny” over 0.010.
Having said this, I’m not a pro or a public performer, so a bit “tinny” is a reasonable compromise for ease of use. I did not remove a star because of this.

I have been using Ernie Ball strings for over 30 years. I have also tried other strings and for the value and the longevity and the tone that I achieve using these strings I just wouldn’t want to go anywhere else.

Since they are 12-string guitar strings, I use them for playing a 12-string guitar. I haven’t had a 12-a twelve string for quite a while, so I can’t honestly comment on how these strings compare with strings that were manufactured some 30 years ago

Ok, in this case I’m a victim of good advertising. I saw an add on Facebook or somewhere saying Ernie Ball strings are a quality string for a reasonable price. I’ve always been a D’Addario guy with dreams of being an Elixir Nanoweb man (I just can’t justify paying 3x’s as much for Elixir strings while my D’Addarios are really good strings for the first 6 hours or so while playing). I decided to give EB strings a try since it seemed as though the ringing I get on the high E strings with D’Addarios after playing a few hours was getting annoying. I put the EB strings on my Taylor CE 324 (an AMAZING sounding guitar with the D’Addarios when first strung) a few days ago and just got back from testing them out at jam practice. Absolute garbage. The two B strings wouldn’t stay in tune, the tone sounded as though they had been put on 10 years ago, and the unplugged volume sounded like I was playing a K-Tone 12 string from a thrift store. These strings are so bad that I don’t even want to list them for half the price that I paid for them or even GIVE them away for fear of a person giving up playing because they sound so bad. PLEASE do not buy these strings if you own a Taylor CE, and most likely any12 string guitar. They made a guitarist of 20+ years sound like he did 20+ years ago. To quote the movie Good Morning Viet Nam, these strings “suck the sweat off a dead dogs balls.” Back to the drawing board for me, and I hope this saves others a few $’s in the future.
