The Essential Medical Supply Height Adjustable Standing Toilet Safety Rail with Foam Handles came in excellent condition with all its parts. You do have to pay attention to the direction that you attach the arm units, if you install them backwards the handles will be in the wrong location making it hard to use. Other than that it was easy to put together. I like that I can easily move it when needed (for cleaning the floor or when company comes over). It’s sturdy and helps me get up from the toilet with ease. It’s also easy to keep clean. I was concerned about the foam on the handles getting icky so I put a wash cloth on each one (secured with rubber bands), so now I can just throw those in the laundry and put one clean ones easy enough. I need a hip replacement and bad knees and this Safety Rail has been a huge help. I am 5’1″ tall and weigh 180# if that helps. I highly recommend.

I liked this portable safety rail because the piece running across the floor fits in front of the toilet, not in the back. This made it easy to move it for cleaning the floor or to adjust the position when using it to get up. I found it sturdy and safe.

Yes, if you try to push your body weight on only one side rail or try to grab it from the very front, it would tip, but I think anyone can work out how to use the rails easily and safely.

I have a very small bathroom and this is the only toilet stand that would fit. It is 21” wide between the handles. My previous riser seat with handles was 19” wide, so this one is actually bigger and I can share the toilet with others who don’t like the riser seat. I attached strips of yoga mat with double-sided foam tape to the entire bottom rail as I did not feel that the two 1 1/2” x 1/16” pads that were attached front and back were secure enough with dust and dog hair. I covered the front feet with white padding and glow in the dark tape that is visible at night. You do need to make sure to place your hands in the middle of the handles to prevent tipping forward but it is very sturdy. Assembly was easy with no problems for 74-year-old lady. I did use pliers gently for final tightening since I don’t have much hand strength. Arms are height adjustable. I added a lashing strap that runs behind the toilet and through the crossbars. It doesn’t move at all if you don’t mind the optics.

I am 6’3” and 250 lbs. I purchased this right after I had double knee replacement surgery and I could not use the toilet without 2 people on stand- by as I could not get off (of the toilet) by myself. Assembly was super easy as a wing nut type bolt to secure the frame together ( no tools required). I purchased a toilet seat riser to set directly on top of the bowl and placed the frame around the toilet. With the arms set in the tallest position, this allows me to take myself to the toilet without any assistance. We also place this in our shower which allows me to get up from the shower bench by myself as well. As earlier explained, even with the adjustable arms in the tallest position, this frame is solid, steady, and easily handles my 250 lb frame. Subsequent re-check of the bolts after using this frame for a couple weeks found the bolts to still be solid and did not require any further re-tightening of any bolt. I highly recommend this product as it has given me a tool to care for myself, which is a very liberating feeling, especially after a double knee replacement surgery.
