My ancient Excalibur died having served me faithfully for so many years without a single hitch! The motor still worked!
After reading many reviews of other brands I decided to buy Excalibur again! Gosh! It sure is beautiful, all shiny stainless and glass (compared to the old solidly plastic one). I love the crumb tray:) The front door of the beauty provides for good airflow, as did the old model.
This is incredibly quiet and though it comes with a great, readable instruction booklet, I found it to be very intuitive to operate.
I’ll die before this does, if the quality is anything like the old guy:)
FAST shipping!

I am happy I chose the Excalibur. It works well and has the capacity that I needed. Aside from the price, what I do not like is the 1 pathetic mat/screen for smaller items that is meant to keep food from falling through. For the number of racks , capacity, and price, a minimum of 3 should have been provided. Then, the one that was given was cut incorrectly and is not square thus causing me to lose area in which to place food. I had to purchase additional materials elsewhere.

We bought a lesser excaliber model last year as a gift and the fan was wildly misbalanced and sounded like a jet engine. So we sent back almost immediately and chose to get an upgraded model (this model) which seemed to have better reviews. On the surface the build quality is much better than the previous “American made” version we bought… yes this model is made in China. However, we just recently unboxed to test making a round of Jerky and it pops every gfi plug I plug it in to in my kitchen which means it is dangerously defective and most likely has a short. For such a supposed top of its class product Excalibur has disappointed on multiple attempts to get a half decent product. The worst part is that we thought that we couldn’t possibly get two bad apples in a row from such a reputable company so we didn’t test this product right away… now we are passed the return period on Amazon. I reached out to support so we will see if there is any hope left in this company which seems they are selling by reputation only while cutting corners in manufacturing.

I LOVE Excalibur dehydrators. My 9-tray dehydrator has been a non-stop workhorse since 2015. I bought this one with the notion of going more upscale. Here’s the first problem that has driven me bonkers over the last month of use. Instead of taking two seconds to dial the temp, I have to hold down my finger on the button to move the temperature from the 165 default to 115 each and every time. My other Excalibur has lightweight plastic trays which are super-easy to clean. This one has metal trays with twisted wires (probably for strength) going in both directions. I dehydrated watemelon slices the other day and they were very difficult to remove from the wires. Cleaning the wire racks took an inordinate amount of time as sticky bits of watermelon were caught in the criss-crossing wire grooves. It also does not seem to be as fast at drying food as my other one despite the new technology but I’m using this one at a different location and cannot do a genuine direct test. I’m making that statement based on years of drying particular vegetable and fruit items in the other one. I could be wrong. At any rate, I am returning this one. The hassles are daily, however small. I will buy a second dehydrator and it will be an EXCALIBUR. They are the best as long as you pick one that suits your task. In my case, I made the wrong choice.

This is a huge upgrade from the original Excalibur, which I have had and loved for many years. I love that the controls are in the front and easily viewable. I also love the SS shelves which are much better than the plastic mesh of the old one.

An excellent dehydrator for crafting beef jerky. I initially began with a budget-friendly option and utilized it for several years. However, the disparity in quality between that product and this one is remarkable. The heating is noticeably more uniform and reliable. As a result, it produces a tender jerky without it becoming excessively chewy. I highly recommend it.

I have used it almost everyday for a solid month to dehydrate a different type of fruit from pineapple, mango, different varieties of apples, kiwi, strawberries, etc. Basically you just set the temp and duration on a digital readout and come back when it’s done. Super easy to use and results are outstanding. Glad I purchased the 10 tray model as I am constantly filling each and every tray up during each session. If you get the smaller one you will wish you got the bigger one. There is no such thing as cheap quality. Highly recommend without reservation.
