This foam background is perfect for our 36″ tank. I did have to trim it down to fit, but it was super easy to do (I used a bread knife). First time I put our Leopard Gecko in the tank, she climbed right up it and hung out for a bit before coming down. My only wish is that there was a way to get the background perfectly flush as crickets can easily get behind, but I don’t want to use tape since I have to remove/change out the flooring. It is not a deal breaker as the crickets eventually come out, but it seems to drive our Gecko a bit crazy because she can hear them back there. I agree with other reviews that color in the picture is not accurate, but I like the darker color and purchased because of the reviews saying so.

Purchased this for my leopard gecko cage. Fit was absolutely spot on. I purchased velcro straps to adhear it to the cage so removal hopefully wont be too painful. I paid $60 for foam but I feel it was worth it. Especially if my lil guy climbs it. I hope he does! I’ll update as needed.

This background is meant for Exo Terra’s own Terrariums but i decided to try it on my custom terrarium and see if it fit. I was very skeptical at first since everyone gave it really bad reviews but decided to take a chance anyways.
Pros:
*The price is great compared to other backgrounds of the same size. The competitor’s prices are twice or three times as expensive for a similar sized background.
* Makes my terrarium look a lot less boring
Cons:
* Comes an inch shorter than the advertised dimensions on each side, which is unfortunate because my terrarium was exactly the same size as the advertised dimensions.
* The material is foam so it feels kind of fragile.
Misc:
* Ships in a massively over-sized box
* Like everyone else has already stated, the color is not as sandy as the stock photos suggest. The color is a lot darker, which i don’t mind because i think it looks better dark. I posted a photo in the customer gallery showing what the color really looks like.

I purchased this for my crested gecko. It fits perfectly in my Thrive habitat and is very easy to install. I can easily slide it out to clean it. Great for preventing falls on the back wall and provides a natural look to the terrarium. Love!

Very nice and easy to cut foam I ordered the larger one for my temporary turtle tank “55 gallons” as a background and I gotta say it came out very nice. The foam is about around an inch on avarage and it hides cuts and scars very well. I didnt find any problems with this item or the following project. This wasent ment to be under water, because foam floats obviously so what I did was, cleared the tank of everything. Rocks, decoration, and what not. I then cleaned the back panel with alcohol and a rag to clean the surface. Then I cut the foam using the face of the tank to help guide me to fit it in perfectly. Then after I cut the foam and cleaned of all the little heads. I put aquarium silicone on the back ” be genourus with it”. Then let it dry over night with the foam bearing weight of some sort rocks, logs, toolboxes. Then test it by setting it where ever you put it and fill it with water. Don’t put everything back in then test. If it holds fine then build back your tank if it doesn’t scrape of ththe silicone and repeat previous steps. All in all its wonderful to have and it looks like a million bucks, I hope my review was helpful and thank you for reading.

I minus 1 star because the foam is not a desert sand color like in the pic. I took another star off because for a piece of foam and some paint this is as little pricey it probably only cost the seller like 2 dollars to make. Now on to the pros. I have a 90 gallon tank 48×22 now I bought a 36×18 because I dont have a lid on my tank [because all lids block part of the uvb enabling your reptile to not absorb enough] so I didnt want to risk my beardie climbing up and escaping and the length doesnt come in a 48in. I ended up with too much space to cover so I ended up cutting the backdrop in half and putting it on each end of my tank so my beardie can stop fighting her reflection. My depth is 18in deep so the 36 was a perfect size. I ended buying a cheap background from ebay for $12 and I absolutely love the end result and so does my girl blue. Her favorite chill spot is the the top of the foam, she climbs the foam all the way to the top and rests there until she sees it’s feeding time or when its sleeping time, she sleeps in her all living hideaway cave which I highly recommend!
UPDATE:
Does not do well for your growing dragon. My girl is about a year now and when she tries to climb the foam crumbles leaving black balls all over that I have to constantly clean up. The last picture doesnt look so bad because Ive cleaned up most of the debris. I noticed she doesnt climb up it anymore because it doesnt hold her weight. I thought about glueing it but then if she poops and it falls through the cracks [like she previously has done] then I’ll be left with a stinky tank.. then i thought about velcro dots but then it’ll leave too much space between the glass and foam.. I think ill end up throwing this out soon.
