James A. Nichols –
This is a very interesting product to use but is really not that practical for my household. We used it to put together some simple coloring books for our kids and to make a couple of different books for them to use. It works really great for this as it keeps everything together for them. The kids really liked the books put together like this but overall it can get kind of pricey to use. Would be great for a teacher of some sort to put together simple homework books or other types of books for their students as it keeps everything really organized.

This is a good machine for the price. My only slight complaint is that the margins are not even. In other words, from the first hole to the edge of the page is slightly different on each side. What this means is that the paper and covers must always face the same way, otherwise, they won’t be aligned. Other than that, it is a strong machine.

I have been printing and binding workbooks for more than 20 years and have always used another brand. I wasn’t sure how I would feel or how long it would take me to become comfortable with the Felloes binding machine.
This is the best binding experience I have ever had. I can punch and bind my 15 workbooks in a little over 20 minutes. I love the fact that I can store the combs in the machine. It is great that I can punch the pages vertically. The binding machine easily punches 10 pages which allows me to punch my books in 3 sections. This has saved so much time.
In the past 4 years I have gone through more than 6 GBC machines. Fellowes forever.

Alot heavier than I expected. Well made, easy to use, no set up, pretty self explanatory. Ive never used a binder but this is perfect for my needs. I make 40 page binders and it only takes a couple minutes to complete one. The trick is not to put too many pages in it at once. Binders look professional. Id buy it again.

This machine works really well. I used it to bind 75, 50-sheet notebooks- each with PVC covers. It worked well for punching 2 PVC sheets at once, and for paper, I’d stick to like 8-10 sheets of paper per punch. When I used more than that, I really had to give a little more strength.
Other reviews said it is really big, it’s like the same size as a printer, and isn’t that heavy. The instructions are really simple, and the make sure to use the guide on the left-side of the machine- that way your holes all line up. (I’d test out on scrap paper first to get it consistent.)
I bought this one over the smaller models because it seemed more sturdy and like it could handle all the work. It still is working the same as the day I bought it.

Pros: Comb fingers are made of metal, not plastic
Handle arm is metal with a rubber grip so it’s not going to break when you try to punch 15 sheets repeatedly
Storage tray is great, holds 25 3/8″ combs with no problem
Has that heavy, “quality” feel, it doesn’t feel like a plastic kid’s toy
Cons: There are no reference points/lines on the underside of the lid to let you know if your paper is sitting in the puncher level
The rotary edge takes a little playing around with to get your papers punched evenly at the top and bottom (this is a minor issue)
I was debating on whether to buy this machine or the Starlet, also by Fellowes, but in the end decided to buy the Pulsar since it seemed like portability and size were major selling points with the less expensive Starlet. This machine takes up about the same space as my Brother HL-2040 printer, so while it’s not huge it’s not something you can hide on a shelf somewhere out of the way. In the end, I opted to pay more for what I felt was a higher quality machine and I’m glad I did.

I wasn’t quite prepared for just how big this machine was. It is big! That said, it is very easy to use, and it does the job perfectly. It has a good sized waste tray, so you won’t be emptying it every day. It also has a drawer for holding combs – though it does only hold about 5, I would like to see a bigger holding space. The drawer also has several gauges where you can measure the thickness of the paper bundle you want to bind, and it will tell you the size of comb to use. Very handy. The punching is great also. It has a guide you can set to ensure you have the same settings for all of your projects. The cutting of the holes is relatively easy. I was pleased though that the leaver is made of metal as I am using 65lb sheets and that is quite a job cutting through that. I suspect a plastic leaver wouldn’t last very long. All considered – I think it was a good buy, and I would recommend it for the small office or home user.

At work we have an old heavy duty (like scary to pick it up and walk with it) binder that I love to use to bind books with. I’ve been wanting my own for a while, so I really did the research before picking out this one. It is easy to use and does what it claims to do. It is heavy duty and rugged, yet easy to lift and move. It takes up some space, so be prepared to have a place to put it! If you are a teacher, babysitter, parent, or artist (or anyone who thinks home made books are cool) you will find a variety of uses…and you will become addicted. Print off house rules and bind them and you have instant authority…Invitations, journals, inventories, kid’s book reports, the fun NEVER stops!
