This is a great game, but because it is older, there were some difficulties when I was first installing it. It took me a while to figure out how to make it run and I found very little help on the internet regarding how to fix it. For context, the install seemed to run smoothly, but when I went to launch the game, it would blink in the taskbar for a moment and not launch.
In order to fix this, I downloaded dgVoodoo which is a game wrapper program. I watched a youtube video on how to apply it to the game. When I opened it, I used the DirectX tab I used the dgVoodoo virtual 3d accelerated card, 1280×720 resolution, and uncheck the watermark option. You should then be able to run the game from there, and it worked smoothly.
This game franchise is fantastic and I really enjoyed the puzzles / gameplay of this and the other ND games I purchased off of Amazon. Not all of them needed the above fix, but I hope it helps provide a solution for anyone who is struggling post-purchase with getting it to run on a newer machine! Happy sleuthing!

I’ve pretty much played all of the Nancy Drew games and this one is my favorite. I thought it had a great mix of interaction with suspects, tasks and puzzles. I thought the game progressed logically and had a good storyline. I thought the puzzles were pretty challenging and the graphics were great. Definitely recommend this game. I thought it was alot of fun. (And the card game you play as part of the story was so fun we bought a real deck of cards and play it regularly!)

Super fun! My favorite parts are dancing at the club for money & listening to different Italian singers on the boat ride! All around great game full of things to do and many problems to solve.

I have played so many of these Nancy Drew games and this is definitely one of the better ones. I absolutely loved the Venice background. Graphics were great! The puzzles made me think but weren’t impossible. All around good plot. I really enjoyed it!
**No spoilers** Finding the bird pill (and then finding the bird) were soooooo infuriating at first but save the game before you do them and then just load the game if you don’t get it. I spent so much time yelling at the game during these two parts.

Admittedly, I had a slight difficult time getting to play this downloaded game with my brand new laptop that contains Window 11. Turns out that by downloading a DirectX 9 for Window 11 (which did not initially comes with this laptop in the first place and therefore was unable to play older games because of it), I was able to play Nancy Drew: the Phantom Venice without any further issues.
I must say, I spent an entire day playing this much beloved game. I had forgotten how much I enjoy playing Scoupa minigame. The music is simply lovely to listen to! There was a couple moments where I was really, really stuck (due to playing as a Senior Detective) but overall, this game is very enjoyable to play.
