Instant 8-Quart Whisper Quiet 9-in-1 Electric Cooker

For reference, I have faithfully used the original 6qt Instant Pot since 2016, often several times a week. I worship at the Church of Instant Pot and have converted many of my reluctant friends to the pot’s wonders. When I saw this newer 8qt version on sale, I decided to treat myself to an upgrade.

It arrived the same day, and I was excited to take it for a test ride by taking the initial test recommended by the company. It took forever to build up pressure. I held out, thinking that this larger version would take more time. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that steam was seeping out like a witch’s cauldron, and my countertops were soaked.

I took everything apart and discovered that there was a hidden orange warning tag located near the “whisper quiet” area. I was worried that I missed another piece of packaging material. I double-checked the user manual to see where these little Easter eggs were placed. Unfortunately, the manual nor Google had the answer.

I was determined to get my new gal working, so I tested again, and again, and again, and (you guessed it) again. On the last try, the metal gasket shot out and landed on my brand-new, expensive induction cooktop. Thank goodness that little rocket didn’t crack the glass or, worse yet, hit me in the eye.

I know that I am returning this dangerous lemon, but should I exchange it for a new one or just stick with my OG Ride or Die?

I use it everyday when I’m cooking, it makes my life easier and everything tastes so good. The slower cooking for meats is great. It’s versatile and save me a lot of time. Great performance and good appearance.

I have been using some form of electric pressure cooker for a year or so. I started with a Crock Pot 10 quart, but it didn’t last long and I couldn’t buy parts for it. So I next bought a used and terribly dented Instant Pot air fry 8 quart and that was great. I just had to get rid of it after about 6 months because I put the base under running water and it got into the huge space from the dent right next to the screen. Oh well, I bought this one 2 days ago, got it today, and used it for dinner. It is faster than the air fry one, maybe because no huge dent? I don’t know, but I have a lot of kids, and I cook most all meals in this. Next payday I am buying a 2nd one so I can make double of everything. It was hard to make it through the 2 days without it! I guarantee that if you buy this, you will use it all the time.

I had to get the stainless steel one, won’t cook off aluminum. This is the best one I could find and the only stainless steel pot. All the electronics are good but one should read the instructions. Some of the functions don’t work exactly like one might expect.
